Utah All-Star G Donovan Mitchell is getting helped to the locker room with a lower leg injury in Salt Lake City.

Mitchell turned his right ankle in a pretty severe way.

per woj

Let's hope it's nothing serious. :(

The replay looks unpleasant, but not gruesome.  Everyone’s ankles are different, but I think he’ll return before the playoffs.

Wow, all these star-powered players from the West getting injured clearing way for the Lakers to get back to another NBA Finals appearance.

First Murray and now Mitchell.

I'm pretty confident Mitchell will be back before the playoffs. X-rays were negative and the team believes its a lower ankle sprain, so probably better than the high ankle sprain Lebron had.

Murray on the other hand, that is devastating.

There was an article on ESPN about how GMs are saying the short off-season and compressed schedule are leading to more injuries this year, with several GMs saying their teams were especially hit hard. Can't help but think Ainge could have been one of those GMs.

The schedule has been brutal. I hope the NBA gets rid of back to backs all together. The players are the most important part of the NBA.

Only the teams who've survived the bubble, made the playoffs and made it deep in the playoffs can complain (except if you are LeBron or Davis).

Everyone else should not complain. They had several months of rest/not playing in 2020.

Sure for teams that weren't in the bubble, but the condensed schedule and how the Covid protocols work has had a major effect as well. In the article it talks about how the athletes have to be tested every morning early, no matter what time the players got back to their rooms/home from a previous game. It messes with the players sleep cycles and long term is causing exhaustion that they have to overcome. That lack of sleep and recovery time has to be having an effect on these players bodies, perhaps making them more susceptible to injury

I hope we don't meet the Sixers in the playoffs just so I don't have to watch all the touch fouls Embiid gets. He shoots like 20 a game. It's not fantastic.

Doing some scoreboard watching.

Heat with a big loss against Minny.

Knicks currently up in a close game vs the Mavs. Need the Mavs to pull that one out as NYK breathing down the Cs neck.

What is going on with Miami? They have too many good veteran players to be a .500 team. Crazy...

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I do t think they are that great tbh. Last year distorted people’s view of them. They had a crazy playoffs and benefited from playing the opponents they did when they did. Plus, Oladipo looks like he’ll be out injured (again) so not sure they’ll have enough juice this year.
