I would look like Mr. Creosote if I ate like this!!!

From the New York Post:

Phelps' diet - which involves ingesting 4,000 calories every time he sits down for a meal - resembles that of a reckless overeater rather than an Olympian.

Phelps lends a new spin to the phrase "Breakfast of Champions" by starting off his day by eating three fried-egg sandwiches loaded with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, fried onions and mayonnaise.

He follows that up with two cups of coffee, a five-egg omelet, a bowl of grits, three slices of French toast topped with powdered sugar and three chocolate-chip pancakes.

At lunch, Phelps gobbles up a pound of enriched pasta and two large ham and cheese sandwiches slathered with mayo on white bread - capping off the meal by chugging about 1,000 calories worth of energy drinks.

For dinner, Phelps really loads up on the carbs - what he needs to give him plenty of energy for his five-hours-a-day, six-days-a-week regimen - with a pound of pasta and an entire pizza.

He washes all that down with another 1,000 calories worth of energy drinks.
I love my kids, call me a sap - it's true.

I'm loving this guy.  A guy who eats that much and listens to Lil Wayne is my kind of guy.  Truthfully though, anyone who exercised that hard for 30 hours a week would have a great body, if they ate decent foods like him.

This should be tempered.  I'm sure he has a personal chef that is putting all of this stuff together for him.  Although it would be amazing, I doubt he's eating two pounds of Fazzolis and an entire Meat Lovers from Dominoes.
We're the ones we've been waiting for.

Who puts lettuce and mayo on their breakfast sandwich???

When he stops swimming he's gonna blow up like Brian Wilson did.

yeh, I saw the fluff piece they had on this during NBC's coverage.

They were going to have one last night where one of the swimmers told people the secret to having such a great body.

I'm guessing exersizing 5-6 hours a day might help...

I doubt it, this is pretty much the standered for athletes involved in heavy training/competition. he'll dial down his diet when done with his career.

lance armstrong used to pack on 5000 calaries a meal when in heavy traning, he still seems to stay fit.

i mean, going off topic here, but ever seen deadlist catch? the deckhands do much the same (someone estimated it takes 9000-10000 calries a day to crab fish) and they dont ballon up in the off season. they leave that to the captains lol.
