So when do we start this up.

Jordan
Bird
Hakeem
Russell
Shaq

All are begging to be chosen to play again.

Kobe knows no one wants him though.

Is there a slot left available? I would like to join. I really need to cure this Andrea Bargnani joining a super team itch of mine.

Lol, I will send out mass PMs tomorrow to all who have stated they would like to join, and then we will see who is still up to do it. Chances are someone is not game anymore.

No reason to not let everyone do it that wants to do it.  If we have an odd number of teams, it really doesn't matter.  I do think we need a cut off though so this thing can get started.  It is certainly possible people that signed up a month ago may no longer have the time.  Just need to get this moving along.

What you want to do is set a schedule and see who can game. Say the schedule is:

Monday August 19th: 1st round
Tuesday August 20th: 2nd round
Wednesday August 21th: 3rd round
Thursday August 22th: 4th round
Friday August 23th: 5th round

Monday August 26th: 6th & 7th rounds
Tuesday August 27th: 8th & 9th rounds
Wednesday August 28th: 10th & 11th rounds
Thursday August 29th: 12th round &13th if you want to do 13 players a team.

Playoffs: TBD

Drafts can start at either 1:00 PM or 7:00 PM EST.
15 minutes per pick for first 5 rounds.
5 minutes per pick for rounds 6-13.
16 teams total makes each day's drafting block 4 hours long.

Then see who wants to/can play and find out which daily time slot is best for everyone.

I would suggest trying to finish the game or starting the game before or after the Labor Day holiday. I have seen these games played around a holiday and you just lose people mid game when you do that.

Dates are good.

I prefer afternoon to evening. Early evening is good for me. Late evenings would be difficult. I don't missing a pick (if late evening) and making it the next morning before the next round starts if that is okay with others. It doesn't really matter missing out on a few slots in an All-Draft like this. You are still getting someone awesome and can build an amazing team.

I would only go 10 deep on the rosters. No need for more depth than that. You are not worried about injuries and managing a season and stuff like that like in a CB Draft. 10 players is enough.

If we cannot all find times to be present continuosly to make our choices though we need a clock to make the pick.

Obviously things can come up. (Boss come into office, child needs put down for bedtime, wife needs some lovin) so the timer should not be too short

When I have done this in the past we set a couple hour? Timer and if the player let it expire they are given a player either at random based on espn top 100 players all time at their pick, or given a player off the list of all time worst players.

Not sure one participants time zones, work schedules etc...so perhaps some feedback from the gms here.

I am on atlantic time, best time for me is between 9-5 as I have a job that affords me the opportunity of running Celtics Strong in the background.

If that doesnt work an evening throught the week is also good

I agree with Who's point on 10-player rosters.  How about 11 rounds of drafting for 10 players + 1 coach where a coach can be selected in any of the 11 rounds?  Adds an element of unpredictability which will be fun.  I think Nick brings up great points too, particularly about holidays.  Can we bump the start up a little earlier to have it all wrap up before Labor Day?  Say...

Schedule Idea:
Thursday August 15th: 1st round
Friday August 16th: 2nd round

(time for people to think, message, trade, and plan over weekend)

Monday August 19th: 3rd round
Tuesday August 20th: 4th & 5th round
Wednesday August 21th: 6th & 7th round
Thursday August 22th: 8th & 9th round
Friday August 23th: 10th & 11th round

Trade Deadline at 11:59pm Saturday August 24

Playoffs: Monday August 26th - Thursday August 29th

I like Nick's idea of time slots for single round (15 min per pick) and double round (5-10 min per pick) days.  I'd prefer not the 7pm start time.  I think 1pm or earlier is best.  Might want to start earlier than usual on Fridays to wrap up before people leave for weekend travels.  If a player knows he/she will be busy during their pick time, they can PM a short list of ranked choices to the commish or can just wait it out.

I'll be away from the 20th to the 24th, but as long as I can pick using my phone, I should be good. Speaking of which, how/where is the picking going to be done? Will we do it on CelticsStrong, or is there a specific website you can do it on?

I like an even number of rounds.  Only way to have a truly fair snake draft.  If we want to do a coaches round, I'm fine with that, just do the inverse order of the players i.e. 1st pick of players is last pick of coaches.  Though I don't really think picking coaches does much at all in this type of draft, so I'd be fine scrapping them.

The dates work fine for me, as does afternoon.

I'm 12 hours ahead of EST, and I'd prefer times that aren't really early in the morning (it's my last summer vacation this year, entering university in September), like from 2PM EST to 7PM EST. I could handle 7:30 PM EST at the earliest if absolutely necessary though. But I can send a draft board if you guys insist on a time that I'm not free on.

I think the easiest thing is just set a 1 or 2 hour timelimit on picks and have a draft pause time and resume time?

Yeah, that is how we have done things in the past.

Here is a link to an old CB draft.

There is a wheel of Deciding I made that can be used to determine draft order.

I dont know if someone out here can make a youtube video of the spin results but that would be kind of cool....
