Do these guys seem like candidates in the late 1st round, or late 2nd?  If the C's look to be working out mainly 2nd rounders, that sounds like something I'd love to overly read into.  Obviously it's way too early to tell at this point, just working out 3 guys in the first crop.

I wonder if some of the work outs are for Agent and coach "favor" looks of potential draftees. Agents must have guys they ask teams to look at.

Boston and New Orleans should just hold joint workouts.

Can Johnson count be a really nice pick with the Cs own pick. He is an NBA ready player who projects easily into a 3-D role.

If the Cs make an AD trade and retain their own pick but include smart and Tatum the a wing like Johnson could compete for minutes right away.

Cam Johnson is the most likely to go in the first round and should prove to be a solid NBA role player.

Ponds and Clemons both have a shot at becoming solid NBA backups. I have been high on Ponds since last year and really like his game coming off an NBA bench. Clemons is a scoring machine but at 5'9 he will have to go the right team to make it work in the NBA. The Cs could prove to be a nice fit for both players.

Nowell is a player who could be a surprise 1st round pick. He is a really young Soph who was just the pac 12 player of the year. He is a combo guard who shot good percentages despite reports of questionable shot selection.

  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
I really like Matisse Thybulle.

I hope they decide to give him a workout, thanks for the hard work CFAN38.

Posted this in separate thread: Spoke with a NBA player trainer who has worked with Cam Johnson. Cam will be first round pick anywhere as high as 13 but "golden state is the team that really likes him because he's a good shooter."  he said after the NBA combine they will know if he will get a draft promise but he thinks he will. "Very High character" kid. Trainer said cam sank a high percentage of 3s today during session.
-Harry Froling is also very good.

-Trainer also mentioned koby white as being an accurate sharpshooter for a guard

Out of that list Cam Johnson is the most likely to make it in the NBA and could contribute to winning basketball as soon as next year. He has positional size and can really shoot. The fact that he is a big wing who can shoot really helps his value given that he fills a role that every team needs. His age likely limits his ceiling to that of a solid 3-D role player.

Nowell probably has the heighest ceiling and Pinds I’m confident will find his way as a back up point guard.

https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/celtics/2019/05/16/celtics-player-interviews-nba-draft/G5ibpexO5ZXZ05IvRCfKQJ/story.html

According to a league source, the Celtics interviewed 14 draft prospects over the first two days of the NBA combine and have four more scheduled for Friday morning. The group is highlighted by Texas Tech guard Jarrett Culver, who is ESPN’s sixth-ranked prospect in this draft class, and Duke forward Cam Reddish, who is seventh.

The Celtics have also interviewed Texas center Jaxson Hayes (ESPN No. 9), North Carolina guard Coby White (No. 10), Indiana guard Romeo Langford (No. 11), Oregon center Bol Bol (No. 13), Kentucky forward P.J. Washington Jr. (No. 15), and North Carolina forward Nassir White (No. 16). The Celtics are scheduled to interview Gonzaga forward Brandon Clarke (No. 12) on Friday.

The other projected first-round picks on Boston’s interview list include Tennessee’s Grant Williams, Kentucky’s Tyler Herro, Iowa State’s Talen Horton-Tucker, Purdue’s Carsen Edwards, and Stanford’s KZ Okpala.

The group is rounded out by Admiral Schofield (Tennessee), Devon Dotson (Kansas), Jontay Porter (Missouri), and Mfiondu Kabengele (Florida State).
