Jaylen Brown is eligible for a extension but he tells
@BostonSportsBSJ
that C’s haven’t reached out yet on new deal.

Quote
A few members of the 2016 draft class have already received hefty new contracts after becoming eligible for a contract extension on July 1st. Jamal Murray and the Nuggets came to terms on a five-year, $170-million deal earlier this month while the 76ers have offered Ben Simmons five-year max deal according to multiple reports.

Jaylen Brown is eligible for a new long-term deal as well as he enters his fourth NBA season, but the 22-year-old wing told BostonSportsJournal.com on Wednesday at Thomas & Mack Center that the team has not discussed an extension yet with him.

"I haven't heard from them," Brown told BSJ. "The ball is in their court."

Brown is scheduled to make $6.53 million in the final year of his rookie deal for the 2019-20 season. The swingman

What is Ainge working on lol, he isn't trying to lock down one of our premier young players to an extension?

J Murray 5/$170m?? Ouch.

I like Jaylen but I'd rather move him than give him anything close to that kind of money.

When did 3-4 tier players start becoming max guys?
ok fine

I d say its gonna cost Wyc a pretty penny to sign him.

I think he would have several high paying suitors .

Thats why i think Westbrooke is in play here....i have this spidey tingle about all this

Not before he fully evaluates the trade market.

  • Rondo doesn't believe in easy buckets...
If this is the case Danny may be exploring trades for him. Extended Brown is a no brainier unless Danny doesn't like the number it would take. If Rozier is making 58 million over 3 years, Brown probably starts at 25 per.

If they go after a OKC player it's going to be Adams. Westbrook is kinda against their new direction of "good attitude" players.

Plus not really a chance of matching that 38 mill contract with out giving up Hayward, which I still don't see happening. Plus Westbrooks contract is something like 45mill at the end.

He will be maxed out next year.

I think he will be maxed out.  Do you think his current skill set is worth it?  Do you think his potential is worth it?  I'm skeptical.  I haven't seen enough improvement in his dribbling skills/driving to the hoop through traffic nor his passing/playmaking to warrant that much money.  I wonder if we should sell high and trade him now.  I have seen people mention trading him for Sabonis.  I don't know if he's available, but a traditional big might better complete the team.

The Celtics have not extended a draft pick before RFA since Rajon Rondo's 5 year 55 million dollar extension.

Danny seems firmly committed to either getting a bargain or utilizing RFA to get a bargain as a strategy.

I do expect Jaylen to get a max offer sheet if he gets all the way to RFA.

I don't see this trade happening because two-way wings are just more valuable than big men, especially big men who aren't clear all-nba talents.

We have talked about this subject recently, but I don't think this means anything. Ben Simmons seems like an obvious lock for a max extension while Denver probably was a little too eager to give one out so soon (not that they wouldn't have done it, but it paints a bad picture for Brown/The Cs).

Even without any improvement, some desperate team will likely sign Brown to a max offer sheet next offseason forcing Danny to match. I would prefer to get him locked up this offseason at somewhere between $20M to even $25M/yr, but not at the max. Some people have said this might paint a bad picture ultimately leading to Brown's departure, but I think you have to be absolutely sure before handing him $170M.

This could also mean Danny is working on a trade, but, unless Smart or Hayward are also included, we are looking at other rookie contract players.

Everyone is a max guy now it's annoying to say the least.

If it came to that I'd rather have Steven Adams. Heck. I'd rather have Wednesday Addams or any member of the Addams family....
