Vince Carter? Really?

I'd rather have Vince than Dudley I think.  Vince has been fantastic as a role player for quite some time.  I mean he had his rookie year and then 10 straight years of at least 20 ppg.  Since then he has had 10 years of less than 20 ppg.  It truly is a strange career.

And carter may be eligible for senior discounts when the team goes on the road!

Maybe he’d be a good assistant coach. His days of meaningful playoff minutes are behind him.

Dudley easily over Vince.

Ring chasing and being a consistent contributor are not mutually exclusive.  And whether Vince is 42 or not, he has been a better player than Dudley every single year that Dudley has been in the league, including last year.

Yup. Carter has been excellent as an off the bench SG with veteran experience. He can still give 10-15 quality minutes a game while shooting the three in the high 30's percentage wise.

He and Dudley, if healthy, would give this team so much more than the Yabusele, Ojeleye, Jabari Bird, Monroe, Hunter and others that have been on this team the last couple years. And, they would understand they are role players, unlike Rozier, Morris and others who have wanted to be starters rather than bench role players. That attitude, in many ways, caused problems this year. You wouldn't have that problem with those guys.

He’s aged exactly how we want superstars to age. He’s been the anti-Iverson / Carmelo.

I’m with nick, though: I’d love both. They’re both relatively productive, and they’re solid citizens.

Fair enough. Regarding playing time, we'll see what happens with the C's roster crunch this offseason - all the picks and FA decisions. C's allegedly had chemistry problems this year due to the minutes crunch. Not sure about Dudley since I rarely watch BKN now that they don't owe the C's a pick, but I watched VC get blown by so many times this year that it was painful. On a positive note, players in ATL apparently liked him a lot as a mentor.

Man, Dudley has been trying to get on the Celtics for years. This isn't the first preemptive report of him wanting to join. Not a bad vet minimum guy for a championship team.

As a Canadian it is really hard not to like Vince

Offseason sign Dudley amd Vince and I would be happy with them as vets

Pretty hard to believe Jared Dudley is in his 13th season.  Love the guy -- great energy.

For the minimum, I'd be fine with it.

Obviously, a lot depends on how the roster looks this summer after all the 'big' issues are resolved:

Kyrie free agency.
Horford possible free agency.
Rozier free agency.
Morris free agency.

and

possible Davis trade (which puts several different players at risk of being moved).

If, after all that, we have a need for depth at wing, I personally would be totally on-board with adding either Dudley or Carter.  Both are savvy, tough veterans who can still contribute both on the court and in the locker room.

Not sold Dudley is any better than Semi.

Semi is certainly the better defender. Much better lateral quickness in staying in front of people. Dudley shoots a bit better from 3 (35% vs 31.5%) .... Dudley seems more different than better to me.
