Report: Jared Dudley wants to play for the Celtics next season

Brooklyn Nets forward is interested in joining the Boston Celtics this summer as a free agent, The Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn reported Sunday, citing an NBA source. Dudley, 33, just finished his 13th NBA season and is expected to leave the Nets on July 1 when his contract expires. Washburn bolsters the Dudley to Celtics rumor by highlighting links between the player’s agent and the team he’d reportedly like to join.

Danny wouldn't be doing his job if he was't putting out feelers for minimum free agents who can fill roles given his goal is to trade for Davis and retain Kyrie/Horford. Dudley fits that mold.

Assuming Boston doesn't have a roster depleting trade, I'd only want Dudley if Morris doesn't return, but I'm not sure I see the point in Dudley if Morris returns and there isn't a roster depleting trade (i.e. acquiring Davis).  There are only so many roster spots and so many minutes available and I'd rather use that spot on a different position and/or a different type of player.

Me too. Loved watching him at BC. Always hoped he would make his way to the Celtics. Both he and Vince Carter are guys I would hope Danny went after to fill some roster spots.

I'd rather have Vince than Dudley I think.  Vince has been fantastic as a role player for quite some time.  I mean he had his rookie year and then 10 straight years of at least 20 ppg.  Since then he has had 10 years of less than 20 ppg.  It truly is a strange career.

Yep, and especially if we are losing or trading 2-3 of Tatum, Smart, Morris, and/or Brown.  Dudley as a bench wing at the vet min sounds nice.
