The order probably isn't perfect, but it was meant to roughly track the voting for the Top 25 Celtics Of All-Time voting, with some modifications.  The current player hierarchy is a jumble of impact, playing time, talent, and seniority (i.e., it's fairly arbitrary.)

I confess: I'd never heard of Bailey Howell, Jim Loscutoff or Ed Macauley.

There's no shame in that.  Did you look them up?  One of the reasons we expanded the list out to 33 (other than just to honor Larry Bird) was to help educate people (in a very minor way) about Celtics history.  We hoped people would then look some of these guys up.

Macauley, especially, is kind of a forgotten man.  He was the team's first superstar, and was the guy who was traded for Bill Russell.

Same here - plus a few others....I'm mostly good post 1981, and even then I couldn't name the entire rosters.

We've been going back and forth for a while depending on who has more time on our hands (lately seems like neither of us has much  :'( ).

The tough thing is that in a few years we're going to have to add two names to the retirement list (i.e., 1001+ posts) in KG and Ray, plus Pierce will move up.  Where do they slot in on the list?

I'd put Pierce somewhere in the 20,000s.  Probably anywhere from 23,000 to 27,000 depending on what happpens when all is said & done.

KG & Ray belong in the 10,000s.  Probably in DJ/Sharman territory, IMO.

I would probably put Ray between JoJo and DJ.  I'd have KG between Parish and Sam Jones, and Pierce between Cousy and Tommy.

Pierce 1,000 and 'Toine 5,000? Is Scal 34,000+?

But seriously, Pierce should be the exception to the active players.

And why is Shaq ahead of Doc?

The active players are kept together.  Doc is between the starters and the bench.

Oy!

Should I feel honored that my little summer project had a small impact on this site?

Because I do, even though we all contributed.

Personally, I feel Doc should be ahead of the active players, but I have no problem with the rest of the list.
In the summer of 2017, I predicted this team would not win a championship for the next 10 years.

3 down, 7 to go.
