Couple I'm surprised weren't drafted:

Juwan Howard.  Dude was still a max contract, all star caliber player in the early 00s.

Patrick Ewing.  Got that HoF swag, and his 99-00 was still pretty solid.

A few guys I'm surprised weren't taken:

Jerry Stackhouse: Walking bucket for a couple of seasons. Yeah he was inefficient, but so were lots of other guys picked

Stephon Marbury: Questionable attitude for sure, but he was an All-NBA point guard multiple times

DeMar DeRozan: Another multi-time All-NBA guard. Not a shooter, but his TS% in his latest season is 60% - thought he deserved to be picked

Cuttino Mobley: Could play both guard spots, was a great shooter and was often tasked with defending 1-3

Kenyon Martin: Had I not been going for my All-Celtics picks last two rounds I would have taken him

Brent Barry: Similar as above, was tossing up him and Barbosa - Barry was ridiculously efficient as a secondary playmaker to Payton in Seattle
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

I was surprised that no one even looked at Bo Outlaw. He was criminally underrated - here are his PI RAPM finishes from 1997 to 2003 (his final good year):

1997: 5th
1998: 18th
1999: 44th (he only played 31 games that year)
2000: 3rd (!)
2001: no PI data, he ranked 12th in NPI RAPM that season
2002: 29th
2003: 29th

This doesn't mean that he was some monster during those years, it just sends us a massive signal that he was a valuable role player who provided great lift to teams in his role. Considering that he played for 3 franchises during that stretch, it reduces the chance of collinearity in the data. He wasn't a great player by any means, but I thought he would've been a nice third string piece to have on some teams.

Open to trading any non KG/Robinson piece for a bonafide first option if any team feels that they have too many ball dominant offensive engines.

Open to the idea of trading Westbrook for a PF (preferably a small-ball PF) or for an upgrade at C.

If you guys are interested in trading, at this point in the game, I suggest being proactive by making trade proposals instead of asking for interest.

TRADE

OKC sends: LaMarcus Aldridge and Ben Simmons

Dallas sends: Russell Westbrook and Clifford Robinson

So OKC got their superstar and will now probably make Ben Wallace anchor a 2-2-1 formation on defense.

On the other hand Dallas fixed a weak spot in their starting line-up at PF with Aldridge.

At least the players will be happy  ;D! Westbrook is now a starter, Aldridge doesn't have to compete with J. O'Neal and Simmons has gotten a clear role to lead Dallas' second unit.

Dallas with a massive upgrade, in my opinion, at the 4.

Is OKC going small with Paul George at PF?

A Jrue & Russ starting backcourt?

Seems like a waste of that incredible backup backcourt of Isaiah Thomas and Bradley Beal if they are going to drop one of those guys from the rotation. Or maybe drop Jrue Holiday. Or maybe drop Paul George and use him as a backup SF/PF.

My first instinct is start Cliff Robinson at PF and then you have Shareef Abdur-Rahim as the backup PF.

I don't know where you fix Westbrook in.

I was leaning towards OKC as my #1 team in the West before this trade. Very interested to hear how they will make this work.

Here's how we are trying to go.

Westbrook / Holiday / Thomas
George / Beal / Holiday
Pierce / Prince
Robinson / Abdur-Rahim
B. Wallace / J.O'neal

The backup PG/SG rotation will be purely situational. If we need more scoring, we bring in IT4. If we need to lock things down, we bring Jrue Holiday.

Well, you know my opinion. I think your current big rotation might be the weakest one in our league, while you have a ton of depth at guard.  I would explore options to trade one of the Pauls to balance the roster.

Cliff Robinson is a great glue guy. The perfect 3+D PF. Defends SFs, PFs, even small-ball Centers. With Westbrook running the point and the 2 Pauls next to him, there is more than enough fire power in the starting lineup. Cliff+Wallace are useful low usage players.

What I would do is explore the market for an IT4 trade. No point having him as a 3rd stringer at the end of the bench, much less given that the second unit has at least 3 go-to guys in Beal, Abdur-Rahim and O'neal. But then again, I was never a fan of IT4. Not even when he was averaging close to 30 points in Boston. :-X

The season Yoki is using for Clifford Robinson he played mostly SF. And CRob was never a good rebounder. I also think by 1999-00, when he was 33, his offensive game had taken a step back by then, though he did seem to have a bit of a renaissance in that year. I just don't think that the mid thirties Clifford Robinson is starter material in this league.

And I don't like Westbrook in this format at all. The year selected, the dude had a near record usage percentage and ball possession time. That iteration of Westbrook seriously hurts everyone else's effectiveness on the team, IMHO.

Not digging this trade for Yoki.
