one is for the CD itself and one is meant for production value of the CD.  Adele also worked as a producer on her album

one is for the CD itself and one is meant for production value of the CD.  Adele also worked as a producer on her album
seems like splitting hairs to me.  in this age of digital production, I find it hard to distinguish production quality.  it's not like there's a lot of poor quality production at major labels.

You mean for song of the year they evaluate the written music and try to envision how it will stand the test of time hence theoretically All along the watch tower by Dylan would win song of year and All along the watchtower by Jimi H would win record of the year, because the Dylan recording/version was horrid even though Jimi proved it was a phenomenal song?
