Which NBA team's players do WE (celticsblog) overrate the most?

I'd have to go with Minnesota and Cleveland...ya know, cuz of old friends Big Al, Gomes, Delonte, and Powe haha. Also, other players who do not currently have a team are Toine and Gerald Green...how on earth have we not brought them back yet???  :P ;D

Sometimes I think Bosh is overrated just cause his teams are always so bad.

Maybe the Suns

Trailblazers. Oden isn't good. Roy is good, but he's not the next coming or anything

Only two playoff appearances in six seasons, though, and two first round exits.  I guess he gets kudos for the 47 win season, but I'm not sure that Bosh really makes his teammates better.

He's an excellent player, I'm just not sure that he's a game changer.

I think some people get on players and its gets a bit kooky
posey, good player helped us greatly but some people think hes the 2nd coming
tmac - anyone that thinks he is anything but a good scorer is overrating him
marbury - need i say more
nate robinson maybe doesn't get overrated on this board but i think he is

I think Denver is right up there.  Here are guys that were overrated when they were there:

1. Chris Andersen
2. Dahntay Jones
3. Chauncey Billups (although he was more overrated when he was on Detroit)
4. Marcus Camby
5. Anthony Carter
6. Linas Klieza
7. JR Smith

On an individual basis, I'd have to say its the Clippers.  Names like Al Thornton, Baron Davis, Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman, Marcus Camby, and Cuttino Mobley are respected from what I've seen.  Yes some haven't come into their own yet, and yes a few are way past when they came into their own, but it's a respected group of players that, when put together managed a mere 19 wins!

I'd def. say Minnesota. But its clearly only because their team is half of what the Celtics used to be.

I think Atlanta is an interestingly rated team. Josh Smith and Mike Bibby are vastly overrated.

That's interesting.  A few of the mods were recently talking about how Bibby is pretty *under*-rated, especially on the defensive end.  I think the guy is hated by Celtics fans, but I think he's still an excellent player.
I don't know, I watched the Cavs run every single play at him for a 6 minute stretch and score almost every time.

I think he plays intelligent defense, but he doesn't have the footspeed to keep up with a lot of guards anymore. Nor the strength for bigger players. Against older guys like Ray Allen he might be okay, but he gets burned by his man too often.

The Magic.

Dwight Howard - limited offensive player, great defender.
Rashard Lewis - Undersized and one dimensional.
Jameer Nelson - How he's an all-star is beyond me.
Vince Carter - Over the hill.

Even last year, Courtney Lee was average at best but people were talking about him like he was the next Dwyane Wade. Hedo Turkoglu was slightly underrated though.

Actually, I think Howard, Lewis, and Carter have actually been underrated by Celtics fans compared to the rest of the country.  All we see is Howard getting nearly shut down by Perk and Davis, and Lewis getting owned by KG, and Carter being Wince, so we don't understand that they really are very good players...the C's just match up against them better than most.

For example, I guarantee you that a Cavs fan is going to give Dwight Howard a lot more credit than any C's fan would.

Oh Roy, I jest. As Celtics fans we are supposed to laugh anytime that picture is posted.

Possibly, but I don't remember him getting abused like that.  In four games, he held Mo Williams to 14.8 points and 3.5 assists per game in the playoffs, and Williams only got to the line seven times all series.  I don't think Bibby's defense was a determining factor in the sweep.  I mean, sure, he's not going to be able to defend Lebron, but he played his man very well.

Two of the most over rated players are:

1. Lamar Odom.  LA keeps waiting for him to turn into something that he never will be.

2. Andrew Bynum.  Same thing.  LA keeps waiting for him to be what they think he can be.

I overall agree, except the part about Lewis being "owned" by KG.  Since KG has come to Boston, Lewis has scored 35, 22, 15, 30, 20, and 21 points against him.  In those same games, KG has scored 20, 14, 21, 15, 16, and 4 points.  In other words, KG has outscored Lewis exactly once, and Lewis is averaging 23.8 points against Boston in the KG era, as opposed to KG's 15 points per contest.
