He's claiming it's an over the counter substance.

Why would the NBA ban anything that's over the counter?  What if he just went to GNC and bought something to put on a few pounds of muscle?  That's illegal?  That doesn't make sense to me.

Um...it's just an excuse.  He didn't really take something over the counter.  At least that's not what got him in trouble.  That's just the standard line these athletes give when they're caught.  It's what Manny did a couple months ago.

I think he did it to rehab from an injury at the end of the regular season. Imagine if KG took a little somethin' somethin'.

Rashard Lewis burned Big Baby with quickness. If this supplement helps out quickness, it could make the plot a lot thicker. I like Rashard as a player, but I now do not respect the person at all.

Yeah I bet he is the only one in the NBA doing something like this.......................

!
God bless and good night!

Key point, Lewis was suspended for actually having elevated testosterone levels. not having DHEA in his system. Lewis claims his elevated testosterone was the result of DHEA, but that is irrelevant. The fact is for whatever reason, his levels were higher than allowed and as a result he was suspended. So if DHEA is in fact harmless as some are claiming, then it means he ingested something else that boosted his levels..

Dwight Howard is suspect too. That kid gained about 50 pounds of solid muscle since he was drafted. LOL.

I don't think you can go just by this.  If you could, a lot of folks would be pointing the figure at our own Perkules.

Sadly, I couldn't be totally surprised if it turned out Perk had taken steroids.

These days you can't really be sure about anybody in professional sports.  Of course that lack of trust is worst in baseball, but I think it's going to creep into basketball, too.

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Rashard buying an over the top supplement isn't cause for crucifixion, yet. If more comes out we can be more hyperbolic about it.

dhea? hahaha. what a joke. it's at every gnc. i was about to comment on how ridiculous this was until jhtruth's comment. if he took something else to boost it that's something.  i'm really surprised dhea is a banned substance. i laughed when i just saw it was dhea.
no doubt REAL peds are being used in the league, though.

again, he was not suspended for DHEA.

He was suspended for high testostrone levels, traditionally a sign of PED use. His camps claim is that DHEA is what he used to cause that to happen.

We need more info before we can make any kind of judgment imo, hopefully we'll get it.

6'10", 225lb?
Who cares if he's on PEDs, they're clearly not doing much for him.
Perk and Dwight?  I'd definitely believe that.

zin baseball, all players know that they need to clear all supplements with the league. There is no excuse for baseball players.

I do not know if the NBA has such a policy.

ESPN spin is that its just the supplement. Not sure I buy it, but I'm not going to get overly worked up about it. The NBA season is still to far away.

They have the same policy. If you don't clear the supplement ahead of time, you're taking it into your own hands whatever is in the supplement.
