Thanks for posting this article.  I like the comparison to Durant. Still miss Reggie, he was supposed to assume the mantle at the end of the Bird era.

Rest in peace, Reg ... you will always be remembered with love and respect, and as the embodiment of Celtic Pride and all things green. Thanks for all you brought to the game and to your fans.

Remember that day like it was yesterday. Just had the biggest sales day of my life. Closed a 7 figure deal walked out to the car and caught Eddie Andelman breaking the news on the AM version of WEEI. Andelman stayed on all night long fielding calls of crying men and women, consoling them and any Celtic fan within the WEEI listening area.

I got stuck in traffic and tears streamed down my cheeks listening to the calls and the grief anf shock pouring out of people while Andelman did his best to be the strong father for every sports fan in Boston.

I always thought Andelman a massive win**** and listened to him since before sports radio existed when he did his Sunday sports talk show in the 70's. I listened because he was the only show in town for so long. But after Reggie's passing, I was a fan. He earned my respect that day and if ever that audio is released, it belongs in a Sports Radio Hall of Fame.

RIP Reggie. You were born and grew up in Baltimore but you will always be remembered as Boston Strong!!

I don't know if I see Durant in him like Dee Brown.  I see Paul George, the same long wiry frame, demeanor and multi-dimensional games.

What a 3/4 combination he and Lennie Bias would've have been. Too sad. What a waste. 2-3 more 'chips at a minimum.

Reggie was great, my son and I were watching old films and he was amazed Reggie blocked Jordan 4 times in that game.   He also said Len Bias equaled LeBron with a better jump shot.   Sometimes a 15 year can get it right.

I was at the old Boston Garden when the Celtics set the playoff record of 156. And the refs missed two obvious calls in that game including one where the guy went up for a block on Reggie while pushing him low with the other hand so his shot was 6 inches short. I had the perfect view and came out of my seat. Reggie was razor thin but he had some serious body control and midrange shot. I never knew if he was going to be a very good player or a great one. Wish I could have found out.

I was 9 years old when this happened, but I remember seeing the highlights on TV.  Just watching him score 8 points in 3 minutes to open the 1st quarter,...this guy was nice.  Good crossover/first step.  Such a shame.

Man if Reggie and Len Bias were alive during their prime and Bird was not too injury prone, our line-up would have been top contenders for many years:

Bird
Mchale
Parish
Dee Brown
Rick Fox
Len Bias
Reggie Lewis

Peavey Bass Player - relearning to play after 10 years sucks;

just watched the special.  brought back so many memories of his playing days and untimely death.  remember blaming his wife for what seemed to be her continuous push to find any way possible to get Reggie on the court (i.e. meal ticket) instead of listening to the doctors and keeping Reggie alive.

The special did nothing to change that ill-feeling and hearing that she still hasn't given Reggie a headstone just makes me dislike her more.  right or wrong, I can't help feeling she's a big part of his death.
