So suddenly Boston is in a position where,  if we DID make some of those trades that Danny refused to make,  we really could have a legit shot at banner #18.

Lovely.
With George or Butler we are not coming out of the East. Love and Smith will be back. Cavs win again with no Durant. Houston is looking good today.

Yeah. It's such fun, this perpetual rebuilding nonsense. God forbid the Celtics would actually make a deep playoff run if a rebounder was added.

I just don't understand the "another team is better, so let's not even try to improve" mentality.

Still trying to make sense of it myself. It's the source of my frustration this past week.

Holy Smokes!

Love, Lowry, Durant...

The playoffs seem wide open, all of a sudden.

Wide open for a repeat.
Is that the shirt Lebron wore during his championship parade? If so, that is just pure awesome

It's by far the stupidest narrative I've seen this year.

"No one's beating the Warriors, they just won 73 games."
*Steph goes down in the playoffs*
"No one's beating the Warriors, they just added KD."
*KD goes down with a serious knee injury*
"No one's beating the Cavs, they've got too much talent."
*Love and Smith are missing extended time*

Kevin Durant expected back for the postseason, multiple sources told ESPN. “It’s not as bad as it looked,” one source said.

Grade 2 MCL sprain and a tibial bone bruise. Reevaluated in 4 weeks. That'll be pushing it to make it back for the end of the regular season, because you know it'll be a bit longer with them being cautious.

EDIT: Also says out indefinitely with no timetable, so they certainly seem to want to be cautious and not rush him back by giving a certain expected date. I don't expect him back before the playoffs.

Yep. It was the same thing a couple of years ago with those Miami teams. Some said "Everyone will just have to wait for them to not be good anymore." And then GS comes out of nowhere and those same people are saying "Everyone will just have to wait for GS to not be good anymore." Do they really think after GS falters there will be no more great teams in the NBA?

If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. No great team ever got there by waiting around for everyone else to get bad.

Absolutely zero need to rush him back.  They probably wouldn't even need him to the conference semis, at the earliest, anyways.

Dont bone bruises usually take a minimum of 60 days to heal and some issues can linger for many months longer? That is a huge bummer for Durant. Time for Curry to take control of that team again.

It's a more severe version of the injury Curry had last year, right?

As mentioned above, one of the most vapid narratives to ever appear on this blog, not to mention a deep-seated insult to the long tradition of excellence - not perpetual rebuilding - that this franchise has.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."

Yep.

But on the other hand, they're not locks for the top overall seed now. They're 4 games up on SAS right now (5 wins, 3 losses), but they've played two more games. So essentially they're just three games up figuring SAS wins the two games making up the difference, which is a good bet. They then have two road games left against the Spurs, which could make up two those games right there and lose them the tiebreaker with SAS. And they still have other tough games coming up - away B2B with NY and ATL, vs Boston, 2 games against Houston, 1 game against Memphis, away B2B against OKC and Dallas, home games against the Wizards, Jazz, and Pelicans, etc.

This injury could ultimately cost them HCA against the Spurs, which could prove devastating.

Potentially important Celtics note regarding this issue - if KD is out the rest of the season, that really makes it questionable whether or not he makes an All-NBA team due to missed games, which makes it more likely that one or more of George, Hayward, and even Griffin makes an All-NBA team, which would hinder our chances of them either leaving their team in free agency or ultimately getting traded.
