The more clips I watch, the more I'm impressed with his mobility for someone as strong as he is. He's really strong but he has quick feet. I think he's going to fit Brad's defense really well.

He has another level motor also. Like Smart

He initiates contact

The best thing I like about the guy is coming out with rebounds. Not just boxing out but boxing out and coming out with clutch rebounds on both ends

One of the best O rebounders in the league

Still kind of surprised Lebron didnt want him on the lakers over Harrell. Maybe they were looking for more scoring and intel on the Clippers
like Smart he will frustrate the crap out of you.

If Thompson frustrates the crap out of us, imagine how fast the fans would have turned on Turner. Boston fans appreciate effort - that's why they are so in love with Smart.
Turner gives effort he just isn't a great player.  Thompson doesn't give effort all the time.  That is what is frustrating with him because you know he can do more.

Did you flip that accidentally? Because everything I've watched or read about two players is the opposite of what you said.

Exactly what I was thinking. Turner is the lazier, but more talented player. TT is the more hardworking, but less skilled player.

TT is a hardworking player when his head is right. When it is not, he is downright lazy. He coasts through games and he does not have enough talent to be effective when he coasts. It hugely annoying when it happens and it can last for weeks (not just a single game or off night).

Myles Turner I put more down to IQ than effort but yeah - whatever words you chose in an effort to describe him, there is definitely a Jeff Green sort of issue there (in terms of under-performance, annoyance with actions/in-action).

Note: TT could get away with those lazy spells better if where 2-3 inches taller but when you are undersized and low-skilled you gotta out-work the other guy. Simple as that. And when you are not working, you are not helping your team.

2nd Note: I am very happy with the TT signing - to be clear. I am delighted we got him. He is a good addition. Just do not expect perfection (in terms of effort) from him. There is a reason he was available on the MLE and the reason is what Moranis is getting at up above. It is because TT is not always the hard-working player he is made out to be. When he that player, he is a difference maker out there. But too many times he is not and that is why nobody made him a bigger financial offer. His effort is not consistent enough to justify the expense. Hence the MLE and why were able to get him.
This is what I was getting at, but you said it way better.  Being in the Cleveland area, I've heard a lot about Thompson and how frustrating he is.  Even when Lebron was here, he would just go into funks and just wouldn't give effort.

Ok, stated how Who said it, it makes way more sense. I think in the regular season, some guys coast. And I think among losing teams, some guys coast for longer stretches. Ironically, among consistently winning teams, this happens too. Guys get comfortable and they don’t lock in every night. I guess we’ll have to see during the season (and more importantly, the playoffs) how badly this hurts the team.

It’s just strange to me that we’re painting TT as an inconsistent low motor guy and contrasting him against Turner, as if Turner is the epitome of a high motor guy who consistently gives it his all.

I could see it as: “TT’s effort is inconsistent which is frustrating”. And then leaving it at that, not mentioning Turner at all because there’s no comparison to be had really.

Tristan Thompson altercation highlights.   I won't be surprised if there are a few blowups this season  ;D

you have to expect it.   Between Smart and Thompson it could become volatile ....  but I look at it, in a good way.   Ever since Perk and KG left the team.  Celts have been kind of soft

FINALLY.... Cs bring in some tougness and size. There is no way you win the NBA being soft. Cs were really soft until the new signings of Pritchard, TT, andTeague. Combined with Smart and Teague, this is a quite formidably tough team that other teams will have to respect..

What makes you think that Pritchard and Teague bring toughness ... also TT spends a good chunk of his time taking duck face selfies with the kardashians

Teague has been in the NBA for years and has no fear taking shots at players bigger than him. Pritchard is a hard-worker, but hard to comment on his toughness before he even plays a game.

Who gives two stuffs what TT does on social media with his girlfriend's family?

Re: Thompson’s lapses in effort - what about during the playoffs or big games in the regular season?   Definitely concerns me a little that he takes multiple games off effort-wise rather than a game here and there or an occasional in-game lapse.  The lengthy lapses just make me wonder whether he gets into long mood funks - I suppose only concerning basketball-wise if it should occur during playoffs.

Also glad C’s have Smart - a good tough leader who will speak up and leads by example.  I would guess it’s hard to be on the floor with Marcus and not be inspired to work a little harder.  And I think Theis, who’ll be likely a practice foe and maybe a minutes competitor, seems to me to be a steady hard worker - that  may help.

He's mostly locked in come playoff time - he ramps up in the second season when his teams need his offensive rebounding and finishing to pummel opposing frontcourts occupied with Kryknee/LeBron/Love.

Good to know his focus/effort gets better when it matters most -- thanks for the response.  TP

It's a one-stuff commitment, at most.

Man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much—the wheel, New York, wars and so on—whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time.

But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man—for precisely the same reasons.

You should know Teague's body of work   if you are an NBA fan. As for Pritchard, I do not understand why people think he has to play in the NBA before you can attest to his toughness. I lok at his play and I see grit just pure grit ...the only way he loses that grit is if Brad coaches it out of him.

Didn't it seem like Thompson was destined to sign with the Lakers and Lebron James this off-season? Don't you think he would have if Harrell hadn't signed there?

I seriously wonder if Thompson will bring a major chip on his shoulder into the season, especially going against the Lakers.

Goes to show you that Lebron doesn't have all the power with the Lakers like he did back with the Cavs

I can see some mini rumbles within the dressing room this season...  hopefully it will be positive

Thompson is a good teammate/listens to the coach unlike Kyme/Rondo.   But he also knows what it takes to make it to the finals, comeback from 3-1 to win a championship.

If Smart launches multiple ill advised 3s in the playoffs, I could see him approach him about it. Because we all know Brad Stevens won't

I like that clip of Thompson getting upset with Lebron.   To get his act together on defense.  Also Sexton/ and Beilein for letting Sexton jack up 3s.

Celts need that extra accountability measure deep into the playoffs

No it’s just that him and his agent have made up 75% of the Lakers as Clutch Sports clients 🙄

Lebron is absolutely running the show in LA.

You sure?  I think its up to a limit.

If Lebron had such control, explain why they didn't bring in his boy Thompson.  They had the money and instead signed Harrell
