  • A true Celtic plays with heart.

For maybe Smith Jr, DeAndre's expiring...what else? Maybe a pick? Is that really enough? Wild if true.

Stein says

Quote
The Knicks would receive Dennis Smith Jr. and the expiring contracts of DeAndre Jordan and Wes Matthews in the proposed trade, according to league sources

and

Quote
The Knicks would also receive future first-round draft compensation from the Mavericks and, by shedding the contracts of Hardaway and Lee, create the salary-cap space this summer to pursue two maximum contract free agents

So they ditch Hardaway who they sent away once then grossly overpaid to resign, plus Lee who they overpaid...hell of a thing to give away your only high-level young guy mostly to erase your own dumb signing decisions.

Pursue two maximum contract free agents?

Gotta think Jordan and his agent or trying to make something happen. Can't see him finishing the season with NY.

Holy crap I just realized Smith Jr was who the Knicks passed on to take Nkilitina too. So it's basically all just undoing their own mistakes.  They legit dumped their young stud building block for a bottle of White-out.

The Mavs are so fun.

I don't even understand why the Knicks gave up on KP so easily... Especially for DSJ...

Like seriously... But who knows, DSJ and Zion might be a nice duo.

The only reason I can think of for the deal (other than they think Zinger will never be healthy) is they want to clear as much cap room for the summer as possible.

They want to make a run at Durant and Kyrie or Butler plus a top pick.  It's all about cap space.

They also dumped a ton of salary. And they can reroute DSJ + that draft pick to New Orleans in a package for AD.

Wowza is right. I wonder for whom/what besides DSmith Jr.?

I'm guessing Smith, 2019 DAL 1st Round pick, DeAndre Jordan (expiring contract) for KP and Hardaway Jr.  Haven't checked to see if this work in trade machine.  I'm assuming the Knicks want to clear cap space for free agency though.

They are delusional if anyone wants to go to that toxic organization, with no star players, terrible owner, and awful culture. If KP wanted to leave, what makes them think Durant/Kyrie would even want to go there..

Because it worked out so well for them back in 2010 with LeBron/Wade/Bosh etc

They are such an awfully run franchise. Just give up their best player in like 2 decades as part of a salary dump.
