Confirms what was suspected, i.e. the organization is classier than Allen.
-
Totally down with it and he's deserving of it.
If I was back for the game, I'd cheer during his introduction and then hope he goes 0-25 from the field.
As much as many hate him now, he did a lot to help get the Celtics back to the NBA elite and relevant again.
-
Rightly so.
-
Good, he deserves it, but my main thought is that not throwing a visible hissy fit is good for the franchise with future players.
Going full on Dan Gilbert will only hurt you standing among the league's players.

I'd cheer during the video of him in that Celtic uniform, but I would boo the hell out of him after.
-
I think that he will be booed during the video, though. The feeling of betrayal will still be lingering, and despite our class, there is still resentment over his decision.

classy by wyc also a nice fitting thing for a guy who played so well for us
too bad ray needed to tell all the stories

My favorite Ray Allen in green moment should be part of it:

Well Deserved.

Hopefully its a video of KG and Rondo urinating on his burning jersey.
That would be hilarious!
Yes, I realize I'm a little sick.

The organization is out of touch with the common fans perspective on this issue. You reap what you sow. There is no need for a video. "That Guy" made his bed, now let him lay in it.
I get the fact the organization wants to take the classy route. That's admirable, but he's the one who went out of his way to get the upper hand in the medias eyes. Simply put, he doesn't deserve it. He was just saying the other day, "boo the owners and organization not me.." so why are we lauding him?
In my eyes it's very simple. He deserves to be treated like any other guy on the "away" team. No more. No less. Let the Boston fans do the talking for the organization. If he's cheered so be it. If he's booed then he earned it and deserves it.
Please don't bungle this opportunity for the fans voice to be heard ownership. Let us collectively speak for the franchise. Silence is just as classy in this situation as some corny contrived video highlight.
-
On the real, I hope Marqueezy gets a video. Either way, he'll get a bigger ovation than Ray.
-
hopefully it's just highlights of games against Miami :)

I agree with this. He plays for the other team now. Treat him like just another player.

I agree with this. I don't see any reason for a video, otherwise. Fine, I get that he did good things for this franchise, but it is going to be a little uncomfortable watching a tribute video with everyone booing.
Heck, the stores in the TD Garden are selling Ray's jersey shirts for $5 and there were still a whole bunch of them the last preseason game I went to.
Maybe when he returns after he retires, but not so soon.
-
As a season ticket holder, this does not please me.
-
I plan to turn 180 degrees when Ray is introduced...
-
It's the classy thing to do.

Too bad the guy who stiffed us for Miami has no class.
-
Nice of Boston to show a little class to the situation after how they treated him during his tenure with the Celtics.
-
I know Ray has said some stupid things, but I really don't understand everyone's overreaction.
He did what he wanted to do. The Celtics reloaded and are better now and in the future than if he had stayed. I have no problem cheering for him during the video highlight, and even hoping that he has a good season, but also hoping that he goes ice cold and the Heat lose every game to the Celtics this season and post-season.

It's approriate for the Celtics who have a well earned reputation for class. He should be applauded for his contribution to #17 by the fans and he should be treated like any other opponent thereafter.
When you give into hate, you've lost.

seeing him standing next to a smug Pat Riley was like seeing Luke Skywalker join the emperor and go over fully to the dark side, except that Luke in this scenario is old.
I believe our team is better with Terry, Lee and more PT for Bradley, and the Heat are better with Ray. It just would have been great if he went anywhere else but miami or LA.

Awkward.
