Scola's #'s as a starter were even better.  He averaged 13+ PPG and 7.5 rebounds in 39 games (in just 29 minutes per game in those games).  Plus he shot .531 from the field.  He also was a major work horse for that the Rockets doing the ever popular "intangibles".

Plus, how many players can pull off the "greasy mullet" look?

Hall of Famer

That's because those are the before picture.

Just imagine what they will look when they got the after picture.

New York has the best defensive team, but I like New Jersey to take the division.  Toronto and Philly should also be strong playoff contenders.  Boston, clearly, is a team of the future.

One of the best, if not, the best division in the league, definitely.

For New Jersey, I feel that Kidd is a point guard more suited to directing a more fast paced offense, while (based on its players) NJ seems to be more suited toward a half court game. How effective would Kidd be, especially with players like Pierce and Maggette on the floor, players who do best when they dominate the ball? Add the fact that Kidd's older now and has a less than reliable jump shot.

(Disclaimer: I have not watched any of Jason Kidd's games in the past year..I'm going by past memories and what I've read.)

I chose Philly because I think their defense is gonna make them a tough opponent night in and night out. Alston Miller and Artest provide enough half-court offense when things get stagnant, and Josh Smith will be putting his face on highlight reels from time to time.

Is this it? 10 players? Wish the Raptors GM had made a presentation. He could have sold me on this team, Wince Carter notwithstanding.

I voted for Jersey. The Nets have the better bench, which puts them over the top, for my money.

New York and Philly are close behind. If either of them improve their benches (New York could use a big, athletic SG; Philly with a bona fide backup PG, for starters), this becomes a heavily contested battle for the division title.

Toronto could make some real noise here with another move or two.

Boston, in the short term, is likely a lottery team, thanks to an especially tough division. Silver lining: adding that kind of talent to Oden, Harris, et al could make them real tough down the line.

Man did I not need Steve to write a piece about Travis Outlaw's shortcomings two days before I have to introduce him as my starting small forward.
