Will add more as the details keep coming in

Both Mookie Betts and David Price would head to Los Angeles if #RedSox and #Dodgers complete their blockbuster, a source tells The Athletic. Alex Verdugo would be centerpiece for Boston. Deal could be in place tonight, per
@alexspeier
. Would require completion of medical reviews.

BREAKING: The Los Angeles Dodgers have agreed to a deal with the Boston Red Sox that would send star outfielder Mookie Betts and starter David Price to the Dodgers, sources familiar with the deal tell ESPN. Deal is pending medical reviews.

https://twitter.com/JeffPassan/status/1224878368216297472

There could be a third team involved in the deal, as
@Ken_Rosenthal
reported. Significant cash will be going the way of wherever David Price lands. But the main player, Mookie Betts, will be a Dodger should medicals go as expected.

UPDATE: Wait what?? Only a 2-player return?? I love Verdugo, but dang only 2 players??

Quote
In the proposed deal, Alex Verdugo and another player (from a third team) would go to the Red Sox.

Only two players? If so, I might have to just not watch the Sox anymore. Cheap-ass owner.

Won't post the tweets here, but it looks like the 3rd team is the Angels, with Joc Pederson being 1 piece going there.

Still unknown which LA team Price is going to

CORRECTION: Passan now reporting it's the Twins, not the Angels, who are the 3rd team.

Don’t know much about Verdugo.  How many MVP awards has he won?

5 years of control, fantastic young player and great bat. I love getting him back, but I want to hear what else we're getting back because it better be more than just 2 total players  >:(

Starter Kenta Maeda would go to the Minnesota Twins part of the Mookie Betts-David Price deal, sources tell ESPN. Outfielder Alex Verdugo and hard-throwing pitching prospect Brusdar Graterol, who has been with Minnesota, would go to the Red Sox, as @Ken_Rosenthal said.

Hell, even the Twins look like they get the better end of all this

Red Sox ownership is so incompetent... it’s amazing they’ve won two WS this decade with the lack of direction.

First it’s about saving money (circa 2013). Then it’s time to max out every FA available (Dombrowski). Then they’re upset they’re over the tax (no duh you were going to be over the tax) so fire Dombrowski, and hire Bloom to blow it up.

And just like that a big market team in a league with no salary cap trades an MVP caliber player in his prime to make up for the moves they supported the last 5 years.

Nice work.

What a joke!

Sell the team.

I was not much of a baseball fan to begin with, but I'm officially a hater of this Sox franchise for the near future. Not the same as rooting against them exactly, but this trade and what it says about the team and the owner disgusts me deeply.

Super glad we traded an MVP in his prime as part of a salary dump.

This would be like Belichick trading Brady in 2005 for a couple of 3rd rounders.

The Sox seem to be the one Boston team (of the major 4) to show routine incompetence over the last decade. Yet somehow they have more championships than the C’s :(
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

I'm not a proponent of violence but if someone straight up punched John Henry in the face right now I'd probably be okay with that.

The red sox just traded a top 5 player for an injured outfielder and a power reliever.

Incompetent ownership will do that. Might be taking a break from the Sox.

Got to give Knicks fans credit for sticking by their team with Dolan owning it. I guess us Boston fans have higher standards.

I might need to boycott the Sox this year. I usually go to a half dozen games a year. Follow them daily. Watch probably 100 games a year. Buy merch.

That is all going to have to end for a while. Hate everything about this Sox off season.

- Owners cry poverty
- They HAVE to get out from under luxury tax so trade a 27 year old MVP.
- In that deal they send out tens of millions of dollars so they don't pay tens of millions in luxury tax.
- They also sent out arguably their best pitcher.
- They had to fire their manager because he is a cheater
- MLB is hinting they have concrete cheating evidence on the Sox
- The bus left to Florida and the team doesn't have a manager
- They can't just promote someone from the clubhouse because they could be implicated in the cheating scandal
- It's going to be hard to hire someone so close to the season that's any good because what new manager wants to come in and have to use someone else's coaching staff
- If they are nabbed for cheating you can kiss a whole bunch of top draft picks goodbye.

Is there any more crap I can pile on top of all that crap?

But hey, at least the Fenway Group will make another $350 million in profit again this year. Yay!!!!
