Because players get hurt and other circumstances. The C's ultimately beat Washington last season because they had a bench and the Wizards didn't. Brad staggers guys all the time. Seriously, the Celtics’ starting 5 traditionally plays some of the fewest minutes together every year.
Take this year. The Celtics most used lineup has played 70 minutes together. Compare that to the Wizards, for example, who have their most-used lineup at 160 minutes and the next at 120 minutes.

Wanted to shut the game off in the 4th, but I had this feeling I was going to do it and they'd come back to win and I'd be kicking myself for missing it. I think its a pretty poor comparison. Dr. J during his youth in the ABA was an athletic freak who could soar through the air and overwhelm people defending him. He always had an amazing handle. And he wasn't an outside threat. As he grew older and less athletic he became smoother and more well rounded.Tatum reminds me of Drexler

Drexler?This is probably the best way to sum it up. I'm as guilty as anyone with comparing players to previous guys, but ultimately we shouldn't be looking for the next so and so, but rather just embracing the unique guy that JT is.

I wonder if some of you have ever seen these guys play because those comparisons are head-scratching. Dr J is the guy before Jordan who could jump from the FT line and dunk the ball. Clyde was an unbelievable athlete who had over a .509 eFG only once in his career.
I could see Harrison Barnes as a comp. Gordon Hayward. Even a better-shooting Rudy Gay/Carmelo Anthony. Paul Pierce is who I've been comparing him to for a while now. Heck, you might go back to a guy like Kiki Vandeweghe. But ultimately he's Jayson Tatum and he's going to be his own man.
