What a joke. Based on what exactly are they favorites, missing the playoffs?

I guess they're assuming Mike Muscala comes back. :)

LeBron James and the acquisition of Anthony Davis plus veteran players and Golden State out of the way I can probably see why.

In green the teams I'd bet on. The narrative seems to be that Davis is going to LA.
If we assume that than I don't think it's crazy to see the Lakers as a serious contender.

Any Laker title next year will be on the back of AD -  if he doesn't commit to BOS.

And LeBron will get most - if not all - of the credit.

These odds assume Davis goes to Lakers and will flip if he doesn’t.

If only to thwart (for a year) the Lakers from being thought of as a contender again  -- after they've done next to nothing to earn it -- I want DA to land AD.

The odds makers (or at least the gamblers) think that Davis is going to the Lakers, but that makes the C's at 12-1 very strange since no Davis probably means no Irving and there is no way Boston wins a title next year in that scenario.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Yeah, the Cs are 5th most likely to win it all - which is crazy. I suppose with MIL and TOR in front of them, they are still expected to go out in the 2nd round, but without AD and Kyrie, I am not sure what the odds makers are thinking.
