Arrest warrant issued again for Hornets forward Miles Bridges

Arrest warrant issued again for Hornets forward Miles Bridges

CHARLOTTE — An arrest warrant has been issued for Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges, and it’s related to a prior domestic violence incident. However, the situation didn’t involve any new allegations of physical violence -- it’s related to the violation of a protective order, according to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office and the county clerk of court.

The warrant goes back to January. But because deputies have been unable to serve it, Channel 9 has not been able to get a look at it.

It comes while the 25-year-old is still on probation for a felony charge of injuring a child’s parent last year.

A criminal summons has also been issued for Bridges, which came out Wednesday. Once again, because it has not been served, it’s not public record, so we have not been able to get a copy of it.

The corresponding police report indicated that the victim’s windshield was smashed in and that her protective order was violated by Bridges’ appearance. The incident happened at her residence.

The victim in question is Bridges’ longtime girlfriend. The pair has several children and is in the middle of a custody battle.

In the past, Bridges’ girlfriend has reportedly defended him and has said that he’s not an abuser.

Bridges pleaded no contest in November 2022 to the charge, which stemmed from accusations that he assaulted the mother of his children in front of them. He was sentenced to three years of probation, and he also must adhere to a 10-year criminal protective order for the victim, weekly narcotics and marijuana testing, and restitution for the victim, the district attorney’s office said.

Just read the up on the allegations. The kids were in the car while he was throwing things at it. He's shameful.

It also sounds like there may have been an earlier incident, from before Miles signed his qualifying offer (and before the NBA suspended him):

On Wednesday, the Mecklenburg County (NC) Sheriff’s Office issued a criminal summons that alleged Bridges threw billiard balls at his ex-girlfriend’s car during a custody exchange.

The summons said the billiard balls smashed the vehicle’s windshield and caused dents, and that Bridges told the victim if she called the police he would “take everything from her and withhold child support”.

Bridges was also accused of misdemeanor child abuse in the summons as his children were in the car.

Bridges’ current girlfriend was accused of screaming and kicking the car in the incident.

Earlier this week, the outlet WSOC-TV in Charlotte reported that there is a warrant out for Bridges’ arrest from a separate incident, the details of which are unknown as the warrant has been outstanding since January but not served.

Bang up job getting that warrant served in the past 10 months, and really excellent work by all involved accounting for that warrant when handing out league punishment.

The NBA has to send a stronger message than a 30 game suspension. There should be no place in the league for people that behave this way.

Yeah, I saw that too.  Barring it being some warrant for failing to appear that was mooted by a future appearance, the NBA and Hornets are going to look even worse than they already do.  I get with Porter Jr. in Houston that he’s under contract and there is a collectively bargained process, but Bridges should never have been signed by any of the 30 teams.

In his first public comments since rejoining the Philadelphia 76ers last week, James Harden told reporters after Friday's practice that he continues to see no way his relationship with Daryl Morey can be repaired while also saying that his plan "is to play basketball. Yes, for sure."

"No," Harden said flatly, when asked directly whether he thought things could get patched up with Morey. "This is not even about this situation -- this is in life.

"When you lose trust in someone, it's like a marriage ... you lose trust in someone, you know what I mean? It's pretty simple."

Harden made a point of never saying Morey's name on Friday, only referring to him as "the front office."
