No way.

Defense wins.  Defense starts with the point guard.  This trade gives us the worst defensive point guard in the league.  No thanks.
do it

Please dear God no.
"Take this down," said O'Neal. "My name is Shaquille O'Neal and Paul Pierce is the (expletive) truth. Quote me on that and don't take nothing out. I knew he could play, but I didn't know he could play like this. Paul Pierce is the truth."

Boston Receives:

Center-PF    : Amare Stoudemire
Point Guard  : Steve Nash
Small Forward: Grant Hill

Phoenix Receives:

Power Forward : Kevin Garnett
Point Guard   : Rajon Rondo
Small Forward : J.R. Giddens

I believe we would still have a outside chance of winning it still with this line-up. While also creating MEGA-Salary cap relief in 2010 with Ray, Amare & Nash coming off the books in 2010.

It's nice to see you came to your senses and kept Ray!!!   :D

Well, I'm bored so here's my ridiculous trade proposal for the day...

Boston sends out: Ray, Tony, Rondo, Walker, Powe, Scals, and Perk
And gets: Baron Davis, Kaman, Amare, Hill, and Barnes

Phoenix sends Nash, Amare, Hill, Barnes
gets Powe, Ray, Tony, Rondo, Jordan

LA sends Kaman, Diddy Jordan
gets back Nash, Perk, Walker, Scals

Slow, boring day...

And we'd be the Dallas Mavericks or better yet, the Phoenix Suns, with their whopping ZERO championships.  Getting offensively minded players in exchange for the reigning defensive player of the year and arguably the best defensive point guard in the league, isn't the way to win #18.

AWFUL.

Sorry. I saw KG's name and I just couldn't hold it in. We need a defense to win something. No point in breaking up a championship core, either.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

I heard Davis and Camby might be on the Block.  That's what we need.  I don't think we have the trade chips.

Any trade that results a net loss on defense is going to hurt the team's chances to repeat. From what I can tell from this decade championships are either won by teams that are defensive-minded or that have Shaq.
Tommy: He's got a line about me. Tell him the line.

Mike: Everybody 60 or over knows Tommy as a player. Everybody 40 or over knows Tommy as a coach. Everybody 20 or over knows Tommy as a broadcaster. And everybody 10 or under thinks he's Shrek.

You know who would hate this trade more than anyone?  Paul Pierce.  He waited 9 years for some great players to play with, then you want Ainge to pull the rug from under him and take away two of the best defenders on the team and replace them with bad defenders, pretty much killing any chance of Paul to get another championship.

Dont get me wrong I bleed green & love my team. But, I am also not naive to think that Garnett has 5 solid All-Star years left in him. He doesn't & to get back an underachiever who averages 23pts & 9 rebounds while he is underplaying his potential is not a bad return investment. Plus Tom Thibideau makes Ray Allen & Paul Pierce defensive stallwarts in 1 year. At some point you have to make risky business decisions & just not wait to start failing before you better your product or at least add to it! Amare has 8 more dominant seasons ahead of him trust me. 28 & 12 over a 5 year span is definitely in his grasp with the right coaching to light his fire.

Um, Scal held Amare to 3 points.  And this was the game in which Amare's 'gorilla game' was supposed to come back out.

No thanks.

Tommy Thibs would go crazy with this line up.

That's what I was thinking.

Danny would not trade Ray Allen, Paul Pierce or KG this season... these are fantasy land trade offers you're coming up with that make the Celtics worse.
