Just a little bored and contemplating potential Celtics deals for Amare. I know that its a long shot.

If you were Danny would you do this deal?

Change in Team Outlook: +7.5 ppg, -0.6 rpg, and -0.1 apg.

Incoming Players

   Leandro Barbosa
6-3 PG from Brazil (Foreign)
13.0 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 1.9 apg in 22.6 minutes

   Amare Stoudemire
6-10 PF from Cypress Creek (HS)
20.9 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 2.0 apg in 37.0 minutes

Outgoing Players

   Kendrick Perkins
6-10 C from Clifton J. Ozen (HS)
8.2 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 1.1 apg in 28.7 minutes
   Ray Allen
6-5 SG from Connecticut
18.2 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 2.9 apg in 36.5 minutes

Its basically Amare and Barbosa for Ray and Kendrick.

our starting line up

would be

Rondo
T Allen
Pierce
KG
Amare

I would argue we improve both offensively and defensively

and our 6th man would be Barbosa,
with Powe, Davis, house and scal off the bench

Ray Rays contract expires in 2010 this trading deadline might be our best chance to get something good in return.

I know its drastic, and I'm not sure if I would do it.

Would you?

What is your argument for the team improving defensively?

I think it would be considered in the offseason (although I don't think either team would actually pull the trigger), but no chance they do something like that midseason.

Tony allen is a better defender than Ray Allen and he goes into the starting line up. Amare is a better defender than Kendrick with his length and leaping ability

Tony Allen is terrible and cant spread the floor whatsoever and Im convinced he makes this team worse even if he himself is playing ok
Amare is not a better defender than Perkins, was that a joke?
NO

Amare is a better defender than Perk??  Wow, that's news to me.

I think Ray is a more consistent defender than Tony.  I know Tony has this great defensive reputation, but I'd rather have Ray in there if there was only one possession left.

As for Perk vs. Amare...  defensively, Perk is just much better.  Amare may have better defensive potential (arguably) but he hasn't committed to that end of the court yet.  He was buying in a bit earlier this season, but has since given up.

Wow, are you guys serious. I am for drinking the kool Aid and viewing everything with Green Tinted glasses.

There is no way you can seriously think that Perk is a better defender than Amare.

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.
You lost me on the Amare is a better defender than Perk thing.  Amare's downside is his lack of defense.  Most articles talking about his possible trade destinations even highlight this.  On the other hand, Perk's considerably more polished on defense, while pretty limited on offense.  His strength and toughness seals off opposing C's in the paint.  That's something Amare either can't or is unwilling to do.

Amare is the better player, but Perk is one of the better defensive big men in the game.  Amare is lackluster in that department.
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

  No kidding.

And don't any of you insane irrational Suns homers even try and suggest that Amare's better on offense than Perk.

talk about destroying an offense.
rondo, tony allen and pierce all make their living getting into the lane. pierce is the only one with a jump shot. defenses would clog the lane against us and dare us to beat them with jump shots. we would lose the offensive advantages amare has over perk because we would have few options to spread the floor and open things up for him in the middle...

no thanks
