Not a good sign that Langford played only 9 minutes last night. No Brown or Fournier. The Warriors got good scoring from Wiggins, Bazemore and Poole. The matchups called for him to play.
This is my biggest criticism of Stevens, and of team management. They just don't commit to players and they don't commit to roles. So the 6 pts and 4 rebounds in 45 minutes from Grant Williams and Semi Ojeleye will be ready for the playoffs, and Langford won't be.
Just think last night they looked for offense over defense because they needed it with JB/Fournier out. I think Langford will still get minutes for his defense. Brad has a little more flexibility now to mix and match his bench depending on what he needs (more offense with Parker/Fournier) or maybe a little more defense with (Langford/Williams).
i don't understand the analysis that Stevens chose offense over defense. The Warriors had scoring from Curry and 3 guys that Langford was far better suited to covering than Grant Williams or Semi Ojeleye were. Why not have Parker take their minutes? They give you zero on offense. The Warriors don't have anything inside to worry about.
This team needs Langford to be a legit two way player. If you are rolling out someone who defends but doesn't contribute on offense, it is insane to choose the players who have no upside. Williams or Semi Ojeleye do not give us any significant boost size wise. Unlocking Langford's potential is critical. He can become a good offensive player. Semi and Grant will never be.
