I don't think a similar thread has been posted yet, so here it it:

Who are the Celtics looking to draft? What are they going to do in the draft? Are we going to try get a first round pick?

As of now, the Celtics have invited/will invite 4 players for workout according to DraftExpress:
Guard Garrett Temple (working out twice)
Guard Jermaine Taylor
Guard Jeremy Pargo
Forward Leo Lyons

Anyone know much about the players above? Perhaps you can tell us a bit about them?
Or are the Celtics going to do something else in the draft?
Let the discussion fire away!
Anything is possible!!!

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
Jeremy Pargo is interesting. He's got the pedigree (brother of Jannero Pargo, the guy who really made a name for himself on New Orleans 2 seasons ago as a firebug off the bench)

I like Robert Dozier, Chris Johnson, Alade Aminu, AJ Price and Tyrese Rice. For our second round pick.
If we trade into the late first I really like Blair, and Teague
DKC:  Rockets
CB Draft: Memphis Grizz
Players: Klay Thompson, Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon
Next 3 picks: 4.14, 4.15, 4.19

Lets remember that we BOUGHT Bill Walker off of Washington last year. So we could do something like that again.

I think we should trade TA to a team that under the cap for a 2nd round pick, some bad team will be able to sell it to the fans as "Championship experience"

I gotta agree with Evantime. I like Dozier, AJ Price and Tyrese Rice too, but doubt any of them will fall to the 58th pick.

And I definitely agree with drafting Dejuan Blair if we buy a pick. The guy is a true beast and can block shots/alter them with his 7'3 wingspan.

I'm still hoping Tyler Smith gets a long look at some point.

I guarantee you he is on Danny's radar.

Sorry guys, but I don't like AJ price, Alade Aminu, or Dozier. I think Ty Rice's offensive abilities might translate to the next level.

I am hoping for a 'stash a player overseas' pick.  Celtics do not need a late 2nd round rookie next season.  Someone that would be ready to come over to the NBA when the Celtics are rebuilding after the three stars are done.

This is exactly right.  We don't need another rookie on this team, particularly when we have guys like Giddens, Walker, and maybe Pruitt who are all young guys who have yet to produce and will/could take up a spot on our roster.  They are essentially our rookies for next year.

If the C's keep the pick (and I wouldn't be opposed to them dumping it or just flat out not signing the pick), they should pick someone they can stash overseas.

I don't like our track record with the stash overseas thing though

In my memory there has been only 1 guy who came out of that, and that was Dino Radja, a guy I really liked, but had a shortened career here

otherwise names like:

Ben Pepper
Josip Cesar
Semih Erden (jury's out)
Albert Miralles (by trade)

I'm not opposed to dumping 58, either. The odds of it contributing to the club - ever - are long.

I'm not opposed to buying into the draft at 21 or so, or trying to get a pick in that area in trade, for a decent project big - Hansborough? - if and only if we have another veteran big locked up.
