it's pretty clear to me Barbosa is gone for the year. Delonte makes the most sense. He knows the system and can play both guard spots ....

Is this confirmed or just your findings? But yeah id give delonte a go

Yeah, has this been reported officially yet? Just because he left the game gimpy doesn't always mean out for the year.

left the game gimpy? He was carried off the floor :-\
-
Delonte is the best available guard out there...guy would be a starter on most teams if not for his off the court behavior
-
Looks like he has an ACL. Should be done as well.
I think Delonte is probably the best out there but I would give AI a tryout.
-
As long as he promises to keep his guitar case AND trike in Maryland.
-
I think I'd rather give Christmas a go
-
give these guys 10 day contracts and if it works out, give them a contract for the season.
-
I think I'd rather give Christmas a go
He has a job in Europe, silly.
-
Doc says Barbosa's knee injury "doesn't look good." MRI tomorrow.
-
if he out 4 the season then rebuild >:( enough of beating a dead horse.
-
Yeah, Delonte is my favourite option too.
Derek Fisher is probably the next best available option. I would be worried about Doc overplaying Fisher though. Maybe Anthony Carter as third choice. Gosh, Jonny Flynn might be the next best option. Ugly.
(1) Delonte
(2) Fisher
(3) A.Carter
(4) J.Flynn
-
I'm going to hold out hope it's nothing ore than a sprain until something official is announed.
However, Delonte might be the best option out there if the worst is confirmed. Not sure if Doc or KG/Piece would want him though.
-
I liked Terrel Harris in the few minutes I saw of him in Miami. Nice athletic active 6-5 two guard. He wouldn't be a PG option but Doc could leave that to Bradley, Terry and Lee if need be. Go with a true two guard instead if Doc wanted to.
Chris Douglas Roberts could be another interesting option. Solid scorer. Passable defender.
I really like Rodney Carney. Very good defensive player with elite defensive potential. Not the smartest player though. Might be difficult to get him up to speed in such a short period of time. Already short-handed. No alternatives if he struggles. Yeah, probably not Carney, pity.
-
Wonder if Dooling could be convinced to come back
-
celtics need like 25 players on their team to survive a season. .......need to petition the NBA for less games or more players.
-
Wonder if Dooling could be convinced to come back
Good point, he already said he would if Doc wanted him back.
-
Wonder if Dooling could be convinced to come back
Good idea
-
Sure

totally agree to be honest. Jordan and Bledsoe would be a pretty good return for KG.

Not to be morbid, but I just want to hurry and trade PP and KG while they are still healthy!!!! At this rate we won't have anyone to make trades with!

Our chance for a title were slim to begin with. Then we lose rondo, sully, and now barbosa...I think it's time to stop kicking the dead horse and realize its TIME. send KG to clippers and get paul somewhere for a title run as well. Its honestly the best the team can do for KG and Pierce at this point give them old guys another run at a title

Don't understand the fascination with Delonte...he's injury prone and a locker room cancer. His second chance with the Celtics has come and gone already. Time to move on.

What other legit option is there?

I've never been a big fan either but desperate times call for desperate measures. He's the best available FA guard, can be signed cheaply and short term.
I'll be very interested to see what Danny does. Obviously he wasn't his biggest fan either or they would have brought him back after the 2010/2011 season.

Play Bradley, Lee & Terry more. The three of them should be capable of playing 30 minutes a night. Just need to find a guy to play 10 or so minutes a night. Not ideal, but at this point ideal is long gone.

Andrew Goudelock?
-
Play Pierce at the 2, and give Jeff Green more minutes at the 3.

Yeah, that's not a bad idea. I'd like to get a younger, unproven player than an old guy. Maybe he'll pan out or something.

Not fascination, but he knows the system, I'm OK with him being a 10-15 minutes a night guy.
-
JJ. Reddick?
-
Right now we need him and he most certainly needs us to save his NBA career.
He'd only be here for the remainder of the season, no training camp to negotiate (we know that's where issues have arose in Boston and Dallas).
One last chance, even if he may not deserve it. What have we got to lose at this point?
-
Play Pierce at the 2, and give Jeff Green more minutes at the 3.
Pierce playing defense against guards more often will probably lead to more moments such as this:

At least the shot didn't go in.

Atleast he didnt tear his ACL on that play.

yeah, lucky it was only his self esteem that was torn
-
No. An injury-prone team doesn't need anymore injury-prone players.
-
Id give a shot at someone else. No disrespect to Delonte.
I already said that Terrence Williams is available, he could be of use as a penetrator and a defender.
Jonny Flynn maybe?
Or that kid from the Summer League that shined bright. I forgot his name though.
-
I'm a Delonte, fan he plays hard, can knock down shots, defend and attack the hoop.
I think he is difficult to deal with off the court which is probably why he won't be brought in.
-
Delonte West would be the perfect pick-up for our team right now. He has good size, knows the system, can play point guard, plays great defense and has the heart of a Celtic. Danny needs to be on the phone ASAP!
-
Ugh. No. Please lord no!
-
JJ. Reddick?
I would like this. Not sure how we get him, but under no circumstances to I want Delonte West on this team. No more locker room disruptions. >:(

Are you talking about Dionte Christmas? I believe he is playing overseas like Moscow or somethin like that

I love how Nelson doesnt even come close on that shot. Usually when a player causes another one to fall down like that they're so jacked up that they finish the play, Nelson wasn't even close.

Exactly. If it was just his talent we were speaking of, he would be perfect tor this team
-
Delonte is the best option.
He's an instant fit chemistry wise, having played with Jeff Green in Seattle, Jason Terry in Dallas and of course playing here twice. The Celtics players know Delonte's game and he knows our system.
As long as Pierce and KG are on this roster we are in win now mode. We need a proven playoff performer and I throw up in my mouth at the thought of Derek Fisher in a Celtics uniform.
DWest can play both guards positions, has playoff experience, shoots the 3 well, good defender and he helps on the glass.
Bring Back REDZ!
-
Yep, Delonte would guarantee us a good draft pick!
-
Delonte would be perfect: an injury-prone player on an injury-prone team. Sign him up!
-

Maybe it would work like a reverse jinx. Delonte would probably finish the rest of the season completely healthy.
-
What other real options are there?
He knows the system. Has run it on two seperate occasions.
He played with kg.
He played with pierce.
He played with green.
He played with jet in Dallas.
He's the most talented player out there by far at the guard position.
-
Delonte was playing good ball his last time with the Cs before breaking his wrist. I think this team needs a little crazy, but I don't think the coaches, front office, and ownership feels the same way.

You'd have to be crazy to want this! JK
He is fragile and has stability issues, I think we are done with him. There are reasons he is not on an NBA team but it might be worth it to rile up LeBron.
-

Haha. Love it!
-
I think there will be several guards available once the trade deadline passes and buyouts start happening. No need to panic right now.
-
Maybe it is in Delonte West's best interests to be away from the NBA for a while, whether he realizes it or not.
Also, keep in mind that he agreed to go to the D-League and put his name into the pool of players that teams can draw from, but then refused to report once he heard that the Mavericks have no intention of bringing him back this season if he plays well. I'd rather deal with Royce White's mental illness than Delonte West's.
-
yay
Delote West is my boy!
-
I'm not a fan of bringing in West, but if the Celtics were considering it, I would suggest that he be asked to sign a ten-day contract first so he can be evaluated and if he in any way hesitates or refuses, then take at as a sign that he will be disruptive instead of buying into the team concept and move on and don't waste any more time on him.

Yup. That's going to fly very well with someone who refused to play for the Dallas minor league affiliate after learning that he won't be resigned.
All in all, do you not wonder why we didn't bring him back when we could? Or why he was suspended twice and ultimately cut for "conduct detrimental to the team"?
-
Delonte wouldn't cost anything and he can probably run the offense a little more effectively than Bradley at this point. i.e. against decent defense you stand a better of chance of PP and KG getting the ball in their spots with Delonte vs anyone else including Dooling.
Anyone else you're bringing in off the street with no idea whether he can mesh with what's already here.
And mid season guard acquisitions have rarely worked here in the KG in era.
-
Yeah, we can't really avoid this anymore. There are simply no other quality guards out there, and we need another guard real bad.
Also another big, but that's been the case all season.
Soldier on, C's.

I proposed that idea in the hopes that Delonte West would say no and the team would move on to someone else.
-
other than fighting Von wafer I cant think of any trouble that Delonte caused on the C's that year
before Dallas let him go he was averagine
9.6PPG and 3.2APG on 46% shooting...thats pretty solid numbers if you can handle him for the rest of the season
-

The Celtics are not considering signing free agent PG Delonte West.
The Celtics are looking for a stopgap point guard option like Shelvin Mack to replace Leandro Barbosa (knee) and Rajon Rondo (knee), but they don't want to deal with West. He's been out of the league since last season and recently declined an invite to rehab his game/image in the D-League

Celtics knows West more than any of us. So if they dont want him, then they know he isnt worth the trouble.
