OK, hypothetical time again.

Lets pretend the Kings pick jumps to the #2 spot AND the memphis pick translates as the 9th pick in this draft.

The offer on the table from NOP is:
Davis for #2, #9, Boston pick 2019 and 2021, Brown and Smart

The deal from Kyries camp is that no Davis, no Kyrie.

So the choices here are:

A) Keep the assets and lose Kyrie.
Draft Ja Morant at #2 and BPAs the rest of the way. Keep all assets and make other moves.

Morant
Brown
Tatum
Horford
Williams

Also Hayward, Baynes, Semi, Yabu, Wannamaker, Theis, #9 pick, LAC Pick, Bostons picks.

or

B) sell everything for Davis.

Irving
Hayward
Tatum
Horford
Davis

with Baynes, Semi, Yabu, Wannamaker, theis and the LAC pick

There is a 97.6% chance that the SAC pick is #14.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBA_draft_lottery

The chance for #2 is 0.6%. #3 is 0.6%. #4 is 0.7%. Hope springs eternal :)

Deal for Davis.

But your on the table offer has Brown going out for Davis and your lineup with Davis has Brown in it. So is the deal on the table for Brown Smart and picks or Tatum Smart and picks?
Let’s go Celtics!!

Neither. We wouldn’t have to trade Tatum + Smart + #2 + other picks. That’s silly.

Include in Davis package but remove the Griz pick (assuming it rolls over) for something else down the road.

This.

Or maybe name him Lucky and dress him in a leprechaun costume until he's 18.

I suggest renaming the topic title to "If the Sacramento Pick rises to #2, what do you do after the shock wears off"

And my response would be that it would be late September by that point and I would have missed the entire summer of options.

The #2 pick and the #9 pick along with future first round picks and all of our late first round picks this year would be a great haul for New Orleans. Doubt that the Celtics would have to include much more.

Deal for Davis.

But your on the table offer has Brown going out for Davis and your lineup with Davis has Brown in it. So is the deal on the table for Brown Smart and picks or Tatum Smart and picks?

Edited, I assumed that if trading picks 2 and 9 then Tatum would not be included.

Trade the pick for Davis but not for the package mentioned. That's just bonkers. They (N.O.) would take Tatum, salary fillers (Smart, Yabu) and 2 picks (Sacramento and Memphis). Those picks would be huge assets if Sactown gets us a top 3 pick.

I would kill to watch Ja Morant on the Celtics.  Excitement!!

Since we have plenty of starting caliber players to start next to AD and Irving, we could trade Tatum and Brown, R. Williams, and add necessary sign and trade for AD.  Then use this year's picks to fill out our bench.

This draft is strong in bench glue guys imo.

Starters:  Irving, Smart, Hayward, Horford, AD
Bench:  Morant, Culver/K. Johnson (Memphis pick), Grant Willimas/PJ Washington (Clippers pick), Thybulle/Talen Horton-Tucker/A. Schofield (Celtics pick)

Then, when Morant starts to shine, trade Kyrie to a destination he's ok with.  Get a star big for him if possible, as Horford's eventual replacement.

Win a title in the meantime...

The above also makes sense cap wise....an excellent bench you don't have to pay for a number of years...
