IT: 179+25 games played, 3 playoffs, 1 ECF, 2 all-star games
Kyrie 127+9 games played, 1 playoff, 2 all-star games

IT came here as an underdog, Kyrie as our next leader.
IT gave his all to us, his body and soul. Kyrie looks to leave for a lesser team after a single PO disappointment.

I still think that Kyrie (25 years, champion, all-star) trade was a good, logical way to proceed with our rebuild, but it just didn't work out.
It's like you create an open corner 3 but miss it. Great shot, but you still miss it sometimes.
Also, giving IT 100 mil$ was never a smart thing to do so we did well in pivoting at the time.

However, the difference between the talented 2 playmakers is enormous.
We rooted so hard for IT, fans really loved him.
And we were ready to do the same for Kyrie (at least I did), to give our hearts away, but he just didn't know how to take them.
He overvalued himself as a leader and mishandled numerous issues and challenges.
Now after a single failed PO run and quotes like "We’ll be fine. Because I’m here,” Irving looks to run away someplace where he will probably face similar issues.

Both were here for about 2 years.
Ball was in their hands, both literally and figuratively said, but when it is all said and done IT will always be forever adored here, Kyrie will always look weak to us.

Pretty clearly IT, but that still doesn't make him the better player.

In terms of impact, this is so one-sided. IT did far more for the Celtics.

It is not close I agree.
I wanted to state the conditions how they both came here and how they did here.
It is so reversed.

Legacies?

IT will never have to buy a drink again in a Boston bar.

Kyrie? Um, not so much.

IT had the best overall season and had a deeper playoff run.

Embraced the city, organization, and fanbase.

Not debatable, IT had a much better legacy wearing green.

It's amazing when you think objectively about expectation when they started and then what was achieved. Also about their attitudes since leaving (or in the case of Irving what I expect to be his attitude). Two very different approaches to life and basketball

50 years from now, I’ll remember IT as a warrior, and Kyrie as a flake.

One destroyed his body for our team.  The other destroyed a potential contender.

I have never been a huge IT fan like others here. I appreciated his effort and his amazing offense, but always felt he was too flawed to have as your top guy. Also didn’t like the brinks truck or the point to the watch.

That said... no comparison.   The only thing KI could do to make him worse in my mind would be to sign with LAL.
