To Pistons - Rondo, Jefferson
To Jazz - 2014 pistons 1st, 2014 celtics 2nd 1st, Brandon Jennings, Gerald Wallace
To Celtics - Trey Burke, Gordon Hayward, Charlie V

Why Jazz would do the trade:  Having a chance to draft 3 1st picks (or bundle to move up) in a loaded 2014 draft. Jazz also had interest in trading for Jennings over the past summer

Why Pistons would do the trade: With Jennings, the team is going nowhere really. Rondo will make everyone better. The team has alot of talent but need a pass first pg like Rondo, to maximize the results.

Why Celtics would do the trade:  Hayward + Stevens, Burke + Sullinger.  This is a way to fasttrack into contention , let Stevens mold the team into the way he wants it to be. It would be nice to keep Rondo, but there are too many variables to make everything work out in the long run.  The 2nd 2014 1st likely won't bring back significant talent and getting rid of Wallaces contract would be a godsend.

Pistons owe their 1st rounder to Charlotte.

Not sure why Utah trades Burke and Hayward, arguably its two best players, for picks, Jennings, and Gerald Wallace.

Pistons trade a 1st, Charlie V, and Jennings, and get Rondo? They'd love it.

Jennings plays for the pistons. You are right about the pistons not having the 2014 1st. So i will adjust

Yeah, I keep reading "Brandon Knight" instead of "Brandon Jennings." I don't know why. It's annoying.

Who's the best player on that team, Sully? Whoever you think it is, you'd need 2-3 players better than him before you're on the fast track to contention.

If you haven't kept track these days, Burke is playing almost the same way he left off Michigan. He is really good and especially clutch shooter. Hayward before his injury was scoring 37 pts, another 20 plus points. The guy is going to be a stud.  Jazz likely would be the team not partaking in this trade. If we give up our 2014 first, they prob might though. That would be risky

I don't get why 3 first round picks in the 2014 draft would be worth giving up on a promising prospect in Burke.  The point of the draft is to bring in a guy like Burke - a potential building block of the future who seems to be panning out.  It doesn't make sense to me to give up on him a year after drafting him; they'd basically be running in circles.  "We need to draft talent... so let's trade away this one talented player we just drafted, so we can get a chance at hopefully drafting more talent."

They're already going to have a lottery pick, anyway, and they've got enough youth on their team already that they can afford to avoid taking on Wallace's contract just to get another pick in next year's draft.  This isn't like the Sixers with Jrue Holiday, who were too good to be really bad; the Jazz are bad even with Burke right now.

Besides, they've got another 2014 first rounder coming in from Golden State.

Here's a comparison of their seasons so far:

http://bkref.com/tiny/SpV39

Neither of them are any better scorers than Avery Bradley (Burke is worse) and neither of them are greatly better overall statistically. Burke is a rookie, but Hayward's the same age and level of experience as Avery. I wouldn't expect a ton of improvement from Gordon although you will see some. So, put it this way, if you really luck out and Burke gets to Rondo's level your team would be as close to a contender as this team would be with a healthy Rondo. If he doesn't you've got bupkiss. You're really on a fast track to mediocrity.
