To date, my three favorite teams are:

1. 76ers
2. Kings
3. Knicks

... probably in that order.  I'm convinceable, though, so start lobbying now if you want consideration for best overall.

I would like to remain at the top.

Coach - Billy Cunningham - Brief 8 year coaching career in which he compiled a regular season winning percentage of 69.8% and a playoff winning percentage of 62.9% which includes the 82-83 championship with the Dr. J led Philadelphia 76ers that finished an astonishing 12-1 in the playoffs after a 65-17 season.

Projected Rotation to Date (still need 1 more big in the rotation)

PG - Murphy 24, Porter 16, Theus 8
SG - Aguirre 24, Theus 24
SF - Erving 38, Aguire 10
PF - Haywood 35, Thompson 13
C - Lanier 35, Thompson 13

Team strategy was to take highly efficient players that were very well rounded.  I have very few poor foul shooters (and no downright awful ones) and most of the team is right about 50% from the field.  My guards can rebound and my bigs can pass.  I have multiple players that played multiple positions adding to the flexibility of the team.  I have 3 HOF players (Erving, Lanier, Murphy) and Haywood should make 4 and my coach was also a HOF player (Cunningham).

Stats from the seasons chosen below.

Dr. J - 29.3 p, 11.0 r, 5.0 a, 2.5 s, 1.9 b, 50.7% from the field, 33.0% from three, and 80.1% from the line and even better in the playoffs scoring nearly 35 and grabbing 12.6 rebounds a game and upping the FG% to 53.3% during one of his ABA MVP seasons as well as a title.

Lanier - 22.5 p, 13.3 r, 4.2 a, 3.0 b, and 1.2 s, over 50% from the field and nearly 80% from the line.  In the playoffs, he upped his scoring to 26.3 and rebounds to 15.3 and was still just as efficient.

Haywood - 29.3 p, 12.9 r, and 2.5 a, 47.6% from the field and 83.9% from the line

Murphy - 21 p, 7.3 a, 2.5 r, 1.8 s, 49.3% from the field and 90.7% from the line

Aguirre - 25.7 p, 5.3 r, 3.2 a, 1.1 s, 49.5% from the field, 35.3% from three, and 77% from the line in just 33.3 m (what I like to call instant offense)

Thompson - 20.8 p, 11.7 r, 4.0 a, 1.4 b, .9 s, 52.3% from the field and 62.8% from the line

Theus - 18.3 p, 9.7 a, 3.7 r, 1.4 s, 48% from the field and 82.7% from the line

Porter - 15.4 p, 13.4 a, 2.5 r, 1.9 s, 48.1% from the field and 72.2% from the line
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Moranis - I like your roster, but my concern is that your two (I believe?) core players didn't achieve much in the post-season...Dr. J was not a Finals MVP (I think Moses took that award for the 76ers 82-83 banner).

Same with Bob Lanier...good regular season and post-season stats, but not quite enough to lift his team to a banner.

Roy, I can understand KC and Philly but unsure why you have NY at #2?

I think the rosters are up to date and all the players where GM's want the players playing. If not just please tell me how you want your players placed on the roster and I will take care of it.

As for my favorites

Best Overall Team: 1. Kansas City 2. About 5 other teams that can legitimately argue they have the 2nd best team.

Best Defensive Team: 1. Lakers 2. Denver and Boston

Best Offensive Team: 1. Kansas City 2. New York 3. About 3 other teams.

Now I know the rosters are not complete and there is still some terrific talent on the board so things can change. Also, I see at least two combos of teams where a trade seems natural and would benefit both teams. I am sure trades could change the landscape of things very quickly as well. So. This ain't overall and theses are not my final votes. Just a quick glance from what I have been observing overall.

NY is at #3.  Call it in part a Larry Bird bias.  However, I really like the way the team fits together.  It's made up of tough, gritty players who I could all see playing with one another.  There's a ton of ball movement, and Kane has one of the best 3PT shooting teams in this draft.

It's all pretty subjective, but that's how I see it.

I love the offensive cohesion that looks to be able to exist in New York. I might start Ainge alongside Bird and bring Free off the bench, which I think adds a whole new dimension to that team with Ainge's familiarity playing with Bird and Free's instant offense off the bench(think Vinnie Johnson's game on steroids and HGH and antler spray).

Absolutely agree.  Free should be the sixth man, and Ainge should be in the starting lineup bringing shooting and even more ball movement.

No worries about NY inside? IMO weaker there than several teams.

Lakers being disregarded yet again. What can I expect, this is a Celtics forum.  ;D

One of the best teams by far and not even getting any recognition. Brick wall defense, solid offensive firepower a dominant Center and yet no love from the panelist?

C'mon...
