Would the following make sense.

Pierce give Utah leadership and and a playmaker outside of the paint.  I think Pierce can transform that team from just making the playoffs to being a threat.

Boston gets Favors and buys out the two guards in their last years of the contract.  In the end, they pay Favors about 5 million next year vs. 15 million for Pierce next year (or 5 million not to have Pierce)

Would not have made this trade before Rondo's injury.

Replacing Favors with Kanter also works.

Don't see Utah giving up either Kanter or Favors for Pierce. They're not close enough to title contention to justify such a move.

Yeah Utah doesn't want Pierce and maybe more importantly Pierce probably doesn't want Utah.

  • Everyone's excited for the new era.
Pierce going to Utah doesn't make them a contender.  Pierce won't want to go there.

Out of Utah's four bigs, their front office likes Favors the most, because he has the most star potential.  They're not giving him up.

Favors and Kanter are staying in Utah, and so is either Millsap or Jefferson.

I dont see the Jazz sending out Favors or Kanter for Pierce either. So this makes more sense from our perspective but I dont think the Jazz do it. And we'd have a tough time giving Milsap a new deal.
