Proving that I can embrace other sports beyond hoops (sorry Bruins, I am not talking hockey) I just watched perhaps the greatest Wimbledon Final ever!!

Nadal defeated #1 ranked Federer 6-4, 6-4, 6-7, 6-7, 9-7

Amazing, absolutely amazing.
I love my kids, call me a sap - it's true.

When the dust settles, I will be interested where this one ranks, my guess is, in the top 2-3 of all time.

Federer looked dead in the water after the first two sets - lots of unforced errors. Incredible match all around.

I only caught the last 2 sets.  Great match, but not as good as Borg-McEnroe in 1980.

I hate Nadal. He's like Kobe to me.

unbelievable match. maybe the best ever. the rallies were remarkable - both guys kept balls in play that would have been winners against anybody else.

"Unbelievable", "remarkable", "incredible", "greatest".... It's hard to find the right adjectives to make justice to this match. A battle for the ages - and perhaps a decisive moment in the history of tennis.

I woke up at 8 AM to watch it (I'm so tired now).

The two rain delays made me tired when during the 5th set, when at 8-7, I was like PLEASE NADAL finally convert a championship point.

Yeah, it was an awesome match. Last year's Wimbledon match was also very interesting as well.

I caught the end of the 5th set because ESPN radio was playing it up and you know what? HD makes tennis better. I used to watch tennis all the time, but left it basically when Sampras left. But now because of these two plus the HD factor, I might watch their matches, kind of like hockey - no sport benefits from HD like hockey, but tennis is close - golf also is just different in HD -  there is no way I would have watched that match today if it wasn't HD...

HD changes everything!
Now, on to 18...

Wow I never saw this thread. I re-watched the final a couple of weeks ago as I was writing a piece on Federer, and it was definitely, in my opinion, not only the greatest Wimbledon final ever, possibly the greatest Grand Slam final ever.

By the way, sorry for resurrecting a really old thread.

Yeh, I remember how happy I was that there was an actual tennis match that was demanding my undivided attention...then it rained or something and I forgot to tune back in to see the end.
