I loved the guy as a Celtic, but anyone who banged on the Ainge trade last season has to see that the guy averaged 4.8 ppg, 6.8 rpg and 0.6 blocks per game against the Heat.

Frankly, it would have been nice to have his healthy body around this season.  Still, he wouldn't have played many minutes against the Heat in the ECF.

Essentially, Perk is kind of useless against most NBA teams since there aren't many imposing centers for him to push around.

We all think we know more than we really do....

if we get green back, he'll be a great asset against lebron and resting pierce as well.

Eh... Coaching also plays a huge role. I mean, OKC had a decided size advantage but Scott Brooks really utilized that. That's not the only thing Scott didn't properly utilize, but that directly affects Perk. Yes, he's overpaid. He's never been about his box score - he's an intangibles player. Paying so much for that gets extremely scrutinized but if he's used properly, its not as pronounced.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

Perk is the same player he's always been, he just doesn't have KG and Rondo to help make up for his... um... lack of talent.  :-X

Danny Ainge was right.

This.

OKC can't complain one bit. Perk helped them get over the hump defeating LA LAKERS. I'm adamant OKC wouldn't have gone this far without Perk.

I think if Perk was still here, he'd be 8 & 8 guy easily.

Danny Ainge was ahead of the curb at the time and no one wanted to see it. The game was changing, and Perk wasn't gonna change with it. Perk was useful against the Lakers front court, and Dwight Howard down low. Once Danny saw that those weren't the teams he was gonna have to go through anymore, he cut bait to try to get smaller and faster and more athletic, just like the two teams that were in the finals.

Ahead of the curb? He's likely to get a parking ticket.

Good point about LA lots of people probably just overlook he did play a good part in why their bigs weren't really effective

  • Boston Celtics= Championships, nothing less.
He can't really guard anyone on Miami. His strength is his interior defense and they played Bosh and Battier at the 4/5.

Perk is on OKC to play the Grizzlies and Lakers. Can't think of a worse team for him to match up against than the Heat.

His numbers are making him look worse than he is- he's not as valuable as Celtics fans believe he is, but he's playing without a pass first PG and has no one to guard on defense.
Tough boxes to tick off if you're Perk this season.
"We are lucky we have a very patient GM that isn't willing to settle for being good and coming close. He wants to win a championship and we have the potential to get there still with our roster and assets."

quoting 'Greg B' on RealGM after 2017 trade deadline.
Read that last line again. One more time.

Not going to say "I told you so," but ...

Danny needs to call the Great Presti about James Harden this summer.
Coined the CelticsBlog term, "Euromistake."
