Trade Hayward and 2019 draft picks to Phoenix for Phoenix 2021 or 2022 first-round pick. Reason: Consolidation, get rid of awful contract, and make a bet on the future of Phoenix not panning out.

Trade Brown for Lonzo Ball. Reasoning: Ball has two more years so we can buy another year of a cost-controlled contract. Plus, Ball can be an amazing facilitator in Brad’s system.

Match Rozier and immediately trade him for a 2020 or 2021 first-round pick, whoever is willing to give us an unprotected pick.

Trade everyone else not named Tatum, Ball, Smart and Williams for pick(s) anywhere at anytime.

Sign one year vets in order to have space to pursue Durant in 2020 in case he opts to sit out this season with GS. If we miss out on Durant, sign one year vets in 2020 and pursue Giannis and Rudy in 2021.

The youth core will be Tatum, Ball and Smart. Durant or Giannis pushes us over the top and we are unstoppable if we get Rudy too (and completely unstoppable if we somehow got Durant in 2020 and Giannis in 2021)

Me too.

Phoenix wants a vet. The best they’ll get from anyone is taking a bet on Hayward returning to form. Four picks and Hayward for a future first seems fair and reasonably likely to occur.

Brown has enjoyed a better career than Ball. New Orleans will still need a PG so maybe they’re also the partner with Rozier S&T. Seems reasonably likely to occur. Ball is always going to be a pass-first PG who is elite at passing and good on defense. I like the trade.

What’s so high about this?

In what galaxy would any self-respecting GM give up Brown for Lonzo Ball?

You also cannot immediately sign and trade Rozier unless he mutually agrees to it, and even then, most teams won't give up a valuable pick, let alone 'unprotected.'

Here’s the deal: Someone will overpay for Brown and I do not want it to be us next season by matching whatever crazy offer is made to him that we have to match or we lose him for nothing. I think he is a solid starter, but I am not sold on him blossoming into an all-star. In comparison, I think Ball can be an amazing facilitator in Brad’s system and, combined with Smart, will provide lockdown D on guards. Ball has the potential to be the next John Stockton IMHO.

If we are hotter on Ball than Brown and the Pelicans are hotter on Brown than Ball, this makes sense.
