Left Tatum off this list  if anyone should play out of position it's Hayward. Hayward can be a playmaking forward.

I'd like to see Timelord get the bulk of the minutes then Hayward then Grant Williams.

Breakout season for Timelord. He will be inconsistent but also put up big numbers like 20 points 15 boards 5 blocks 3 assists.

I vote Hayward. Without Horford we'll need some play-making to come from someone other than our PG. Tatum and Brown are both not great, and despite both Williams' showing some ability to pass neither are as good as Horford or Hayward.

I also think starting Kanter and Rob Williams would be not ideal. I think of Rob as a 5, and neither of those 2 can really shoot.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Hayward

Kanter and Gordon Hayward. Nice offensively. Horrible defense.

Kanter,  Bob Williams. Good defense. Great rebounding. Horrible spacing. Maybe Rob can play more high post passing to make it work.

Timelord, Hayward. Solid overall. Little small.

 Tacko and Anyone else. Perfect!

I voted Grant Williams. I think he can start for us at PF ala Bogut for GSW at C, then we bring Hayward off the bench as a super 6th man.

If Kanter starts we need a PF next to him who can defend and space the floor, imo. So it has to be Theis or G. Williams.
But that would mean that hayward comes of the bench, which I don't really like because hes a good playmaker.

So I would start Timelord or Porier next to Hayward.
Which also means that Kanter gets a lot more shots coming of the bench, that's when he's most effective given his mediocre defense.

Tatum. His one on one defense is worse than Hayward and would hurt against guards or small SFs yet he has better help defense. He could then be a mismatch on offense. He also provides decent inside rebounding and a nice post game. Tatum is a much better PF option than Hayward.

Hayward is light years better than GW and should be starting. GW isn't a starter, even Semi is better.

Theis is okay but I expect you need his experience off the bench or else you are in trouble with the bench bigs.

.

I too am optimistic about the Timelord. I just think 20/15/5/3 may be a bit much.....

By default = Gordon Hayward

Hayward is not a good option at PF but everyone else is far worse. So by default, it is him.

I voted Grant Williams.

I hope I am wrong but I think we will be in deep doo doo if Grant Williams is starting.

Good question (though maybe add Ojeleye, Tatum and Kanter as options?).

This position is really tough to fill. We don't have anyone who's a good option there.
The starting PF should bring something that the other (presumable) starters Walker, Brown, Tatum and center lack.
So it's really dependent on the combination with the center. Maybe a better poll could be what our starting frontcourt should be?

I advocated for G.Williams/Poirier, but Grant Williams looked even smaller in Summer League than I thought he was. Defense is a big issue, so even Ojeleye might be an option for me.

Stevens is going on season #6?

And we the most hardcore Celtics fans known to man still discuss who will play X position.

Of all the traditional positions on the court PF seems to be the biggest victim of positionless Celtics basketball.

ok fine
