Very glad for the city, actually. Would have been cool for the novelty, though.

You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Can't say I'm too surprised.  Seemed like a train wreck almost from the beginning.

Good seeing Walsh put a kibosh on the taxpayer guarantee.

I for one am not too sad to see Boston's bid terminated.

ditto, the MBTA is so Edited.  Profanity and masked profanity are against forum rules and may result in discipline.ty, I cannot imagine going to work if we won the Olympics bid.

I am glad Marty Walsh fought back and refused to sign the host city contract without protections against using tax payer money as a final source of funds if they go over budget. As we know, these types of huge projects run WAY over budget. Glad to see Walsh thinking about the people's interests, rather than other interests.

Fought back might be strong.  Recognized the complete lack of public support feels a little more accurate.

Exactly. We're just recovering our roadways from the big dig too, we don't need to totally screw up the daily commute again long term. More efforts and money should be put into the MBTA rather than building more stadiums and hosting the Olympics

There are studies (sorry no link) which show that cities NEVER recover financially.  Big talk about how it stimulates the economy but even after 30 years some host cities are still struggling.

Then add in the hideous traffic problems and local towns getting overrun with tourists causing a mess everywhere.

Boston is just fine without the Olympics, thank-you.

Couple articles talking about how the impact of the Olympics is overall negative:
