So every player has a 2/yr 5$/yr salary? or the salary of their drafted price?

Salary of what they're drafted (auction amount)

5/2 is just the default free agent amount, so that showed up when i made my sample roster.

As a guide for salaries my 13 team roto league fall roughly into:

$50-$70  Superstars
$30-40 Stars
$10-30 so so
$1-9 sleepers or bums

This is where the college draft becomes super important.  You can draft a Durant out of college at $20 and have him at a decent salary for years to come.

For the record, the highest priced player ever was Mutombo at $74!

I'm rethinking the auction plan posted in the OP.  I think the changes will make things simpler.  Here's what the original idea was.

Quote
The Auction
Normally the auction will be held through the CBS site, but since we have so many slots to fill we are going to do the inaugural draft differently.

The auction will be held Monday-through-Friday.  I will set a schedule of players to be auctioned.  The schedule will be based on a random order of CBS' Top 200 rated players and a mix of eligible rookies.

New players will open up for auction at 9 AM (EST) on the day of their scheduled auction. When a player comes up for bid anyone may start the bidding as low as $1.  If you want to outbid someone you simply repost with a higher bid.  Bidding will continue for any given player until a 24 hour period has passed. If there are no more bids on a player after 24 hours the high bidder is awarded the player at the salary of the high bid and that amount is counted towards the $250 cap.  Players won in the auction have 2 year contracts, with a 3rd year option.

*Bids may occur during Saturdays and Sundays, but the expiration of an auction may only occur on weekdays (essentially the 24 hour period will be 72 hours for Friday bids).  Players not receiving bids will go into the free agent pool and be available once the auction is over.

There may end up being a ton of players up for auction simultaneously so don't get caught spending in too many places at once and plan according the schedule.  YOU MAY NOT RETRACT A BID. *One exception is if you bid the same amount as another player and your bid shows up after the initial bid - in which case you will have to rebid or pass.

Here's how we're going to do it (amendments in red)

Mock Auction

I'm going to start a Mock Auction so we can get the hang of the auction prooess before the real deal starts.

The idea is to cut and paste the roster of players up for auction with your.  Don't go crazy with this, but I'd like to see everyone try to go through the process of successfully placing at least one bid.

At any given time there should be no more than 2 days worth of auctions up for bid.  The lower numbered day will represent auctions that will expire at 11:59:59 today.  If you bid on a player from the day that is about to expire you need to cut that player from the old day's list and put him on the newer day's list along with your name and high bid.

I will start the auction list on Day 2 so we can see what it will look like with two days on here.  Make what you will of the players names!

Day 1 (this would be the expiring day...if no one outbids these by 11:59:59 I would win them, or in the case)

Johnny SuperStar: Redz - 42
Frank Upandcomer: Redz -  9
Glen Mediocrity: Redz - 3

Day 2

George Studbucket: Redz - 29
Orenthal Awful: 0
Louis Younggun: Redz - 4
Alfred Bum: 0
Mordecai Fadingstar: Redz - 3
Larry Gord: 0
Truck Bonanza: Redz - 11
Yup

Hmmm 30+ days of bidding ending at midnight will not boast well for someone who goes to bed at 10-11.

Live Auction is out of the question?

Maybe I should of thought harder about signing up.  I didn't realize there would be so much reading involved  :o  ;)

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

Kwhit, the auction will only end at midnight if 24 hours have passed w/o a bid.  If someone puts in a bid right before midnight the player will be available all of the next day.  All you need to do is check in once daily.

It will make more sense once we get going.  The live auction would take wayyy too much time for one day, and the CBS system will not allow for an extended one.  This will drag on, but take only moments a day if you choose.

ps = try putting in a bid in the mock auction to see how the process works.

It'll be fine.  It's a lot easier to say all of us this stuff than to write it down.  There are a lot of rules, but they're necessary and worth it.  Don't panic!

I'll Take Johnny Superstar for 50 please. Thanks!

So then would i post it like this?

Day 2

George Studbucket: Redz - 29
Orenthal Awful: 0
Louis Younggun: Redz - 4
Alfred Bum: 0
Mordecai Fadingstar: Redz - 3
Larry Gord: 0
Truck Bonanza: Redz - 11
Johnny Superstar Timdawgg - 50

Then remove him from Day 1?

So the mock draft for one player could go on for 30 days rolling over if someone were to bid every day on that player?
A winner is someone who recognizes his God-given talents, works his tail off to develop them into skills, and uses these skills to accomplish his goals.

Push yourself again and again. Don't give an inch until the final buzzer sounds.

you would move your bid to Day 1, like you did, but leave the remaining Day 1 stuff there.  If there are no bids on the Day 1 list by midnight then I would win them at that price.

It should look like this:

Day 1
Frank Upandcomer: Redz -  9
Glen Mediocrity: Redz - 3

Day 2
George Studbucket: Redz - 29
Orenthal Awful: 0
Louis Younggun: Redz - 4
Alfred Bum: 0
Mordecai Fadingstar: Redz - 3
Larry Gord: celtsrp33 - 3
Truck Bonanza: Redz - 11
Johnny Superstar Timdawgg - 50

if no one bids on the Day 2 guys with zeroes by midnight then they become free agents.

celtsrp33, to add you bid on for Larry Gord, you would post it like this:

Day 1
Frank Upandcomer: Redz -  9
Glen Mediocrity: Redz - 3

Day 2
George Studbucket: Redz - 29
Orenthal Awful: 0
Louis Younggun: Redz - 4
Alfred Bum: 0
Mordecai Fadingstar: Redz - 3
Larry Gord: celtsrp33 - 3
Truck Bonanza: Redz - 11
Johnny Superstar Timdawgg - 50

please keep practicing people!  It will make it a lot easier come the real deal.

Mistake on my last post.  So.  Like this:

Day 1
Frank Upandcomer: Redz -  9
Glen Mediocrity: Redz - 3

Day 2
George Studbucket: Redz - 29
Orenthal Awful: celtsrp33 - 1
Louis Younggun: Redz - 4
Alfred Bum: 0
Mordecai Fadingstar: Redz - 3
Larry Gord: celtsrp33 - 3
Truck Bonanza: Redz - 11
Johnny Superstar: BDubs - 60

yup, that works...now since midnight passed I would have won Upandcomer and Mediocrity.  Day 2 would move up to the top - meaning anyone on that list who receives no bids by midnight expires - and Day 3 is added...So let's continue.

Day 2
George Studbucket: Redz - 29
Orenthal Awful: celtsrp33 - 1
Louis Younggun: Redz - 4
Alfred Bum: 0
Mordecai Fadingstar: Redz - 3
Larry Gord: celtsrp33 - 3
Truck Bonanza: Redz - 11
Johnny Superstar: BDubs - 60

Day 3
Mike Alright - 0
Fred Wickedgood - Redz 5
Jose Juan Bueno - 0
Vlade Czechmark - 0
John D'Oh - Redz 1
