NOT, including tragedy, what was your biggest disappointment watching the Celtics through the years? For me it was Dee Brown. I thought he would be our next superstar. He just never really panned out, he was good and always teased with his potential, but never became a star. Not winning more than one chip with KG and PP was a close second.

  • On To Banner 18!
2010, Finals Game 7
2018 ECF, Game 7
2020 Bubble vs. Miami
2022 Finals after Game 3

Honestly I'd even say most of last year's postseason. I mean sure, they beat ATL and PHI but those series went way longer than they should have and the C's looked meh. Then falling behind 3-0 to start the ECF even with HCA.

If you want a single answer though, I'd probably lean last year's ECF Game 7. Literally it was there for them to make history at home to reach the Finals, and they yet again choked badly. Sums it up for the organization really, they've been close many times and just can't get over that hump for Banner 18

Kendrick Perkins trade. That killed us that year.

I don't know what the most disappointing thing was. Antoine getting traded the first time was disappointing. Him being brought back was great but was then discarded again that summer. That hurt. The 2nd time hurt more even more than the 1st time.

If felt like there was a start of something there with the young guys like Al Jefferson (TA, Perk, Delonte, Banks) coming up behind the old guys of Pierce, Payton and Antoine. Ricky Davis too. That was a fun group.

The Brian Shaw affair was disappointing. That was a big one. I really liked his game. Rock solid big PG. He felt perfect next to aging Big Three. A replacement for DJ. Someone who can compensate for their lack of footspeed and connect the team together.

I hated seeing him leave.

Mercer was another one.

I thought that was the start of the new Big Three. After Pierce gets drafted I mean. Mercer, Pierce and Antoine.

I never really connected to Chauncey. I did not know much about him before the draft and he got traded before he ever really got started here. Mercer though. I knew of him in Kentucky. He was the star of that Kentucky team the year after they won the NCAA. He had triple doubles in college. I had big hopes for him.

In the last 15 years or so, I would say
1.  2010 Game 7 loss
2.  2023 ECF Game 7 loss at home last year against Miami

I almost can't watch highlights of those two games.

At the time, getting the 5th pick in the 2007 draft. I wanted Durant badly and the 5th pick was the worst we could get. We were awful that year.

No Oden, Durant or Horford.

We had no idea the KG and Ray trades were on the horizon, but pretty soon all was forgotten .

I remember being disappointed that Rondo never turned into Chris Paul.

1. 2010 Game 7
2. 2012 ECF (We were up 3-2 against LeBron, let's not forget)
3. 2018 ECF (We were also up 3-2 against LeBron)
4. 2022 NBA Finals (We were up 2-1 and was on pace to go up 3-1 against GSW)
5. 2023 ECF (Down 0-3, tied it back 3-3. C's had no business being down 0-3 nor the Heat had any business winning Game 7 on the road after being up 3-0)
6. Gordon Hayward 3 minutes in and got injured in 2017, pretty much changed his whole career.
7. Kyrie Irving

I’m actually shocked you liked Toine. He was ahead of his time with all the threes, I guess, but back then the post game still mattered and he was excellent down there.
