I didn't love it, but people seem to be exaggerating in this thread. At the very least, it was interesting seeing former players trying to keep an entire telecast going. I particularly thought Brent Barry did an admirable job as the play-by-play guy for having no background in the field.

Probably best to take a break from it for now, but I could definitely see them bringing it back in the future.

Guys like Barry and McHale were my favourites. It was when guys like Nate Robinson were doing commentary that it really sucked. Plus, Reggie Miller is shocking.

Good news for sure. Very few weren’t awful to listen to.

Now they need to pull Reggie Miller off TNT altogether.

Reggie Miller is terrible

tbh they are all pretty bad. Doris Burke, JVG, Mark Jackson  etc.

Jay Bilas is good and so was Steve Kerr
I thought Reggie was okay. Did his homework. Chris Webber not so good.

I thought after the first one I saw "maybe it'll get better" and it didn't.  I think it really was pretty bad.  I didn't mind the halftime AS MUCH (since the normal one is players anyway, with Ernie, but Ernie does a lot for it) but the in game play by play and everything was AWFUL to listen to.  Not the players fault, but it wasn't good for viewership.

Thank Jeebus.

They took it even further this year with the in-studio portion. It wasn't great when they used exclusively players to broadcast from the game itself, but this past year when they had the players broadcast from the studio instead of sitting on the sidelines was just about as awkward as can be.

Jeff Van Gundy is PAINFUL.

I like Doris.

Yeah, that should never happen again.

But I would be okay if they someday brought back the sideline players only broadcast. I voted 'yes' in the poll so it wasn't exactly my cup of tea (evidently my take was still more positive than others), but I thought it was at least an original idea. If used judiciously, maybe the gimmick wouldn't be so annoying.

I would usually end up muting these, so I'm glad they're gone.

The biggest problem was none of these guys could do play by play.    And then there was no one there to really reel them in when they want off on tangents while action was unfolding.
