We are starting a new 30 team CelticsBlog draft set to start Monday August 4th.

This is the same as we did last year.  30 teams. 15 rounds.   A lot of trades.

You be the GM and create a team.   (for those who are new or missed it last year, this is not a draft for fantasy league)

Now, there will be a couple of changes.

1) I am no longer a GM.  I am for this season, the Commissioner.  I will approve all trades.  I will keep the draft moving forward.

2) You can put together a group (2) of owners to run one team.  Good for those who can't be on as much

3) We will choose winners.

There are plenty of ideas the staff have discussed and agreed upon.  We will let you now what these are later as well as getting your input on other league running decisions.

But for right now, we are taking a list of posters wanting to participate.  There are only 30 teams (some of which are already taken)

PM me if you want to throw your hat into the ring.  If you played last year, include what team you controlled last year in the PM.

Since I have gotten a few questions.

You draft like you were an NBA GM trying to put together a real team.  (Think NBA video game where you draft new teams)

feel free to ask your question here.

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.
So it's just a draft...and then we grade everyone's teams and trades once they have a final roster?  It's basically the most interesting part of fantasy basketball without the everyday lineup checking?
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.

Yep.  last year, most GMs put out a report on their team and discussed it with other posters.

I think the idea is to hold votes for things like "best team to win now", "best team for the future", etc.

Last year we spoke about putting the team through a video game season, but nobody picked up the ball and inputted the lineups.

The best part about this game are the trades.   I took over for the GM of the Nets last year in like the 5th round.   His best players were Yao Ming, Michael Redd and Maurice Williams.

I then proceeded to annoy all my fellow GM's obsessively for the next several weeks until I put together this team:

PG - Deron Williams
SG - Rip Hamilton
SF - Andre Iguodala
PF - Chris Bosh
C - Dwight Howard
---
6th Man - Antawn Jamison
7th Man - Raefer Alston

I forget the rest, but the point was... my team would have dominated for the next decade.

Hell yea you know I want in. Do I get to pick my team or are we randomly assigning them. If I can pick I want G-State obviously Jeff gets the Celtics. Or I can take the Clippers to another championship just like last year.
