I saw this article and thought it was very intersting that Kemba recruited Kanter -- using Ainge's phone! Maybe we will get some team harmony this year. There's some other interesting Kanter facts in the article linked below.

The key to Enes Kanter’s free-agent heart is a simple phone call

Seems pretty common tactic/circumstance this year at least. Lillard was in the room when Neil Olshey called him to make the offer to keep him in Portland.

But didn't Dame and Kanter have a relationship from playing in Portland? Do Kemba and Kanter have a relationship?

Smart teams are leaning into player recruitment. Having the new big addition reach out to a guy with a more limited market and say "we want you here" is often more influential than anything front office people, who players know are looking out for their own interests, can say.

Glad Kemba was willing; he seems like he's gonna be a really good team citizen, which will be a nice change of pace.

Love this.  I wish he would have called Al Horford, though!

He very well could have, but by all reports Horford had committed to Philly not to longer after the initial negotiations with Boston broke down.

Though in his interview he pretended in happened when it officially could lol.

I love al, but his contract is absolutely insane and like twice what we were guessing for him heading into the offseason.

So then in a word association similar to what you would see on an SAT test:

Kanter is to Kemba as ________ is to Kyrie

A. Durant
B. A 15 year vet
C. LeBron
D. Who the hell knows what goes through Kyrie's mind

No seriously, everyone does it because it works. Guys around the league get to know other players on other teams and want to play with them because they like each other. That's a great thing if the two guys are superstars. It's a good thing for the Celtics with Kemba and Kanter. Now let's hope those two get along with everyone else.

kemba isn't on the Celtics if Horford doesn't leave.

And this is yet another reason to be excited about Jaylen Brown and hope he blossoms into a star. While there were some that whined that he was in Vegas but didn’t attend the SL games, he was doing something more important, building relationships with young players. He’s been holding his seminar for 3 years now. Building relationships, getting phone numbers, if he stays in Boston, it could be his influence that brings the next star here.

Probably not Giannis, but think about the small market bigs and wings that will become stars in their own right over the next 3-4 years.

It doesn’t satisfy the short term, I know, but what if Ayton, or JJJ, or Zion, wanted to ship up to Boston because they want to play with JB?
