I can't believe we might actually get this pick.

Lakers need a top pick to compete with what Boston might offer for Davis.

I will be shocked if they someone dont end up with a top 5 pick

It's almost impossible to rig, or even influence, the lottery when teams get down that low in the draft order.

Imagine the outcry if they win the lottery.  It would be ugly.

I think so, too.

The Lakers are already a draw.  They attract a huge television audience, because they've got an iconic franchise with the league's most recognizable star.

Yes, the league would like to have the Lakers in the playoffs, but not to the detriment of the rest of the league.  I think that multiple teams started to think the game was rigged when Davis tried to force his way to LA.  If the Lakers won the lottery at very long odds and then packaged that pick for AD, I think you'd see teams start to become very vocal and fans start to dismiss the product.

Celts might not even go after Anthony Davis if Kyrie leaves.

Right now it's not looking good for the Celts and Kyrie.

There's no point in trading a lot of the assets for AD if there's no Kyrie.

If Kyrie leaves then the Celts will be back to where they were in 2014.

According to BasketballInsiders, as things stand right now the Celtics own picks 14, 19, and 22 in the upcoming draft. Also, the Memphis pick will convey to next year's draft, top 6 protected. Not bad.

That's a lot for management to work with, either for trades or to restock the team with young players.

I dont want to imply that it would be rigged in some way, its just LAL luck that it would happen.

I am torn on Kyrie staying or leaving, but am completely off trading for Davis, too much cost, too much risk.

other, just as well suited team guys out there that can man the Center spot.

And honestly, I think that
Brown/Hayward/Tatum/Horford/Center is a lethal team. With Hayward and Horford setting up plays.

I think Memphis would rather the pick translate this year, as it opens them up more for rebuilding moving forward, so I think they push hard rest of the way out.

I think Memphis leafrogs Dallas (2 games vs remaining) and Washington (1 game remaining Vs) by seasons end. and they take 1 of 2 games against Orlando, beats Atlanta, Beats LA

I think Sacramento, although they really want to win, is going lose more often than not closing out.

Out of their remaining 19 games I think they could lose as many as 13 of them.

Boston x2
Houston X2
Philly
SAS
Utah
Portland

all losses IMO

then you have Dallas X2, Phoenix, Brooklyn, NOP X2 that they will lose 1 or 2 of improving the pick

Plan A is to resign Kyrie and trade for AD

Plan B should be to build around the young players if Kyrie leaves. You have 3 first round picks to either take 3 players and continue to be young and build, hence waiting out the Warriors, Raptors, etc. or you can package all 3 picks for a vet or to move up in the draft.

Either way, Boston will be fine. Kyrie's decision will shape the future one way or the other.

Brown
Hayward
Tatum
Horford
Center

Unless that Center is AD, Celts will just be a 2nd round playoff team.

No Kyrie and no AD means the Celts will be back in rebuild mode.

The Bucks, Raptors, Sixers, and even the Pacers are better if the Celts don't have Kyrie and AD.

I have to disagree, Tatum and Brown are both 2 way, 20ppg capable players, Al is a smart heady vet who is efficient, and IMO in this particular lineup, I think Hayward returns more to form as he becomes promary handler and you are looking at a near 20-5-5 player.

add to that loads of picks and youth and that team is very dangerous moving forward.

Nah, I disagree.  Fierce1 had it right, that's a 2nd round exit team.   Bucks, Raptors, Sixers, Pacers would all be better, assuming they resign their main guys.  Heck, NYK could even be better if they get Kyrie and AD.  So, who is your PG?  Jaylen not capable IMO.
