Mitchell Robinson, who is averaging 5.5 blocks per-36 minutes in 2019, says he can get up to 6 blocks per game with increased playing time.

"Probably around six. I feel like I can do around six," said Robinson, who's averaging 18 minutes per game off the bench.

David Fizdale called the 20-year-old Robinson an elite shot-blocker.

“I’m not putting a ceiling on him. If he believes it, I’m with him. He’s showing that he’s an elite shot-blocker. Obviously, I’m going to keep trying to grow him and build him up where he’s going to play more and more minutes. But the sky’s the limit for that kid.”

Don't see it. Robinson is a legitimately good defender, whereas Whiteside is just a good shot-blocker, with '15-'16 proving to be a complete anomaly.

Robinson is also light years ahead of Whiteside at the same age, who managed 111 minutes through his first 2 years, then left the league for 2 seasons.

Robinson has a good chance at being a legit headache for a long time. Pre-draft I wanted us to pick him, but I like Williams anyway

There is no way he will average 6 blocks a game.  I mean since they started keeping blocks, the largest single season average was 5.56 by Mark Eaton in 1984-85.  That is the only season above 5 a game ever.  The last time a person even had 4 a game was Mutumbo in 95-96.  And those were all before the proliferation of the 3 point shot.

The rookie who was passed by everyone including Danny who opted for Williams who himself is a shot blocker but unfortunately is too raw to get minutes.

Robinson on the other hand has already had double doubles, plays more mature and is going to be a defensive monster.

Robinson is getting minutes on the worst team in the NBA. He would be playing sparingly on a good team, just like Williams. Not saying he can’t become a good player, but he has benefited from playing on a lottery team that is actively tanking.
