I use to love Red Dawn. Saw it in the theater. Wolverine!!!!!
Not so good now.

The mention of Red Dawn got me thinking about all of the Brat Pack movies and how well they may or may not have held up.  I grew up with those movies and you occassionally see a few still playing on tv (Fast Times, The Breakfast Club, Young Guns) and they seem to have held up OK in my opinion but my favorite at the time, and the one I would love to see again to see how it held up is The Outsiders.  Has anyone seen The Outsiders recently?  If so, what do you think?

The Princess Bride...pretty good then, absolute classic now.

Rocky...awesome then, maybe even better now.

Star Wars... see Rocky.

Rocky Horror Picture Show...see The Princess Bride.

The Fellowship of the Ring...awesome then...the weak link in an unforgettable trilogy now.

Anchorman: The Ron Burgundy Story...dang funny then, classically funny now.

Disagree regarding LOTR FOTR.  Personally it's my favorite out of the three.

What does it say about me when I'm more interested in the Oscars than the All Star game, but I don't know a single nominee or movie, and I the only reason I'm interested in the Oscars is the dresses so I can watch Joan Rivers make her 4 jokes about them

All her jokes are a variation of

That dress could only look good on insert famous gay guy here

That dress says "I cost about $23.50 an hour or $45 for the night"

Some self deprecating joke that involves a Jewish allusion like "I wore that dress in 1969, and woke up with 4 stds and a fortune cookie. Best night of my life"

Miscellaneous joke about the dress itself like "That dress is so flattering the nuns want it back"

God I love Joan. The Tim Tebow of fashion

Heat holds up well. So does The Terminator.

Last of the Mohicans with Daniel Day Lewis never gets enough credit-- great then and holds up well, American history and as intense as it gets.  Of course sports clssics Hoosiers, and The Natural can be watched over and over.  Instead of Braveheart try Rob Roy, I think the better movie.

Sasha Baron Cohen has arrived at the Oscars in military uniform as a dictator and just spilled the ashes of Kim Jong Il on the reporter. Security is escorting him away. Genius.

I just finished Ben Hur. That movie was looooonnnggg. Also it won more academy awards than any movie until Titanic broke the record. I have to think the same movie made today with CGI and today's actors (not redone, but if original) would never fly.  The Passion did well for itself but only got 3 academy nominations for things like make up and score and didn't win one even though tons of people loved it.  I guess just the audience has changed

Pulp Fiction...just as good give or take

^^My favorite movie of all time^^

No Country for Old Men is just as good as it was 5 years ago. Javier Bardem acts Antoine Chigurh flawlessly. One of the best movie villians of all time. I especially like that movie since the "good" guy doesn't win...Something that happens in 99% of movies.

Avatar went from good to bad...I don't know if it's not watching it in 3D or whatever, but it completely lost all its spark.
