Why would Boston do any sign and trade for Kemba when they have cap space?

Why would the Rockets start two bigs who cannot shoot?

Why?  :o

If we did get Kemba, I wonder if Capela is still available. It’d probably require us to lose Smart (ugh) and some picks, but a lineup of Kemba, Brown, Tatum, Hayward, and Capela would seemingly fit together pretty well and be a really good two-way team.

Would really hurt to lose Smart, though. Not sure what other realistic options there would be at Center other than rolling with Timelord, which while I would love to see would not be ideal lol He’ll get plenty of time off the bench for now.

Can’t trade Smart for Capela.  Try to find a center with the room exception, and let that guy and Robert Williams form your center lineup.  Dedmon and Ed Davis would be my top two targets.

Yeah there are plenty of C options that fit the room exception/minimum budget the C's would be on. I don't see the need to trade for a big dollar player.

Well boston would to maintain max capspace.

And that was houstons best frontcourt last season, they still can start tucker.

Without regard to a specific trade, if the Celtics were able to work out a S&T with Horford’s new team, they could use his new salary in a 3-way trade in which they acquired Walker.  This would allow them to use the MLE and BAE instead of the room exception, as well as preserve Bird rights to Rozier and Morris.  If it took a second rounder going to each of those teams, it could be worth it in terms of getting starter-level taken at the 4 and/or 5 via those exceptions..

They didn't start Faried except when Cappela was out.

I guess? I don't see it happening however. I don't see Boston sending future picks to get those exceptions back.

And that's assuming the other teams would be on board.

Ok. Doesnt really change much for them either way. Their front court remains the same but they add a do all in batum, and a young piece and shed pauls contract.

So dont know why they would decline that

Because Nicholas Batum is a shell of himself and is paid $25 and then $27 million dollars.

I'm pretty sure the math doesn't work anyways. as Charlotte has 60+ million incoming only 35ish outgoing and they are decidedly over the cap.

I'm very tired of illegal pie in the sky sign and trades.

What's wrong with signing a 29 year old to a 4 year contract?

Vucevic is only about 5 months younger and has more of an injury history FWIW.

I would rather deal hayward for drummond plus instead at that point.

Drummond is a center who lets you get away with a pg and 3 wings in the floor together.

But honestly, if charlotte loses out on kemba they desparately will try and do anything to stay semi relevant. And that means trading for paul and or accepting a sign and trade from boston for kemba

Batum, monk, filler of aome sort to houston

Harden
Monk
Batum
Faried
Capela

Paul and hayward to charlotte

Paul
Hayward
Bridges
Williams
Biyombo

Kemba to boston

Guys it is possible to have this thread stick to actual rumors and rumor discussion and have trade ideas in a separate thread? Not trying to be a curmudgeon but was hoping we could have a thread for actually discussing the rumors like last offseason.

Seriously we just drafted 3 guards and still may have Rozier.  We have 0 bigs and you guys wanna spend our max money on an aging guard.  This board is enamored with anything that will take the bad tase if Irving and rozier away.  I get it, but the money can be better spent elsewhere.  And he’s another ball dominant pg.

Didn't realize you needed to be young enough to get on the kiddie rides to be on the Celtics.
