I am sure this has to do with his minutes restriction coming back from surgery, but if he doesn't get his starting role back would that be a surprise? Rondo, for all his fleas, is still a better player than Ball.

I saw some good things from Lakers , most defense I ve seen in a while ,  Ball is a wasted pick IMO if Rondo doesn't come off the bench .  Hart will KCP at guard , he has guts and a decent shot   Lakers big weakness is pure shooters,  Ball is not a shooter , he  eeds to run the plays .  The energy level was fantastic for LA , THE HALF COURT sets were poor.  Not sure Bron and Rondo can play at this energy level and pace another 81 games.

I'm not really sure Rondo is better than a healthy Ball.  Certainly more seasoned, but I don't know if I would use the word better either.

Yes, but his bark is worse than his bite.
'I was proud of Marcus Smart. He did a great job of keeping us together. He might not get credit for this game, but the pace that he played at, and his playcalling, some of the plays that he called were great. We obviously have to rely on him, so I’m definitely looking forward to Marcus leading this team in that role.' - Jaylen Brown, January 2021

Rondo doesn't get much respect around here these days, but the truth is he's still a very good player when he's engaged.

Yep! Better shooter, passer and decision maker than Ball. Plus his defensive reads and directions are probably more helpful than Lonzo’s average defensive ability.

Rondo is a good player and Ball is a very flawed player

I agree with this post.  Nobody has seen second year Ball minus the anorexic body either.  Goukie- Ball is a special passer, and was rated as a very good defender last season.  I think his 3 point shooting and finishing at the rim will come around too.  I see the Lebron signing as a big blow to Ball’s development.

He certainly is a special passer, but I have no idea how that is going to work with LeBron around for 4 years. I also think with that form he will never be a dangerous shooter. In his efforts to get his ugly shot up quickly so much can go wrong
