Love Nellie. I miss him. He was a fun coach. I wish the C's brought him back to coach here during the 90s.

Great new look. Suits him.

I was actually just watching some of those Warriors games vs Dallas in the playoffs. When they knocked off the #1 seed. That team was so much fun. Better to watch than anything in the NBA right now. Great mix of 3s, driving, midrange and most of all beautiful transition basketball aimed at getting layups & dunks. Much more fun than watching guys spot up for 3s on the break half the time.

Nelly, the first guy in the NBA ever who wanted 3 guards and 2 wings on the floor at the same time.
He needed it to beat a 67 win, MVP led team.

He may not bleed green anymore, but he sure smokes green a lot.

Fox News, so what ?

Nellie's biggest contribution to Celtic history was the 15' jumper that bounced off the back of the rim, went straight up and somehow fell straight thru the basket at the LA Forum, Game 7, 1969, probably one of the top 3 wins in Celtic history. The balloons had to stay in the Forum rafters that night.

He also played a key role for the '74 and '76 title teams. I remember him telling the story about how Dave Cowens as a new rookie could not beat him in one-on-one games after practice and how, by the end of the season, Nellie couldn't get a game off Cowens anymore.

His #19 hangs in the Garden rafters and is probably one of those that the modern fan sees no need for being retired. I'm glad his number his up there.
The Four Celtic Generals:
Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:
Cousy - Havlicek - McHale - Pierce

I was half-joking, but this thread was from a while ago so I accidentally clicked on it again. Sorry, but I prefer not to give foxnews any clicks. What they are doing to Americans is criminal (no, I don't feel like explaining myself - I'm sure you've heard it all anyway).

As for Nelly - yeah, of course, that dude is awesome. Glad to see retirement is treating him well and he is enjoying himself.

Same haha. I stayed there but I hated giving them clicks at first too. ;)

It takes me 3hrs to get to Miami and 1hr to get to Orlando... but I *SPIT* on their NBA teams! "Bless God and bless the (Celts)"-Lady GaGa (she said gays but she really meant Celts)

Man is in well deserved retirement. He should do what he likes to do.
Nellie is like one of those bands that you like but never went though their full discography.
He was an innovator, introduced influential ideas, Celtic champ.
IMO, in a similar mold, but a better coach than D'Antoni.
