Hmm, I'm not sure I understand why Ainge would be interested in him. Where does he get minutes?

It’s extremely unlikely that Ainge is interested. It is highly likely that Cleveland is interested in first-round draft picks, however, and that Burks’ agent is interested in generating buzz around his client.
'I was proud of Marcus Smart. He did a great job of keeping us together. He might not get credit for this game, but the pace that he played at, and his playcalling, some of the plays that he called were great. We obviously have to rely on him, so I’m definitely looking forward to Marcus leading this team in that role.' - Jaylen Brown, January 2021

This makes little sense unless another deal is in the works...

Do you have any source for this at all? If so, please provide it. Thanks.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

From Sam Amico. Look at #6.

I don't see the fit with Burks.

He is the typical journeyman SG and he doesn't shoot well from 3 at only 33.8% in his career.
He doesn't seem good defensively either even though he's 6'6.

I'd say he would be no more than a depth piece at best, nothing we'd give up anything more than a 2nd round pick for to sit on our bench.

Maybe as a buyout guy. Any guy we'd trade back for salary purposes would be better than Burks.

Even then it doesn't make sense. The earliest we could obtain him is in mid-January by a swap for Smart.

Or wait till February, when it is allowed to combine Burks with another player and do a trade like Burks + Thompson for Horford.

Luckily we can be sure that Danny Ainge would never do anything like this, so therefore this has to be a completely fake rumour.

Cleveland management or Alec Burks agent slid untrue rumors of Ainge's interest in Burks to Amico hoping to drum up interest in trading for Burks. I am convinced of that. No way Ainge has interest other than picking him up after a buyout. Match an $11 million contract for Burks is ridiculous. We already have Brown, Smart and Rozier who are all better than him.
