Why would this team want more young players that "need time"? They are one of the youngest teams in the NBA.

How does adding a player in the late lottery of this draft change anything? How does that get us beyond a 2nd round exit type team?

Langford and Nesmith were drafted in the same area. I don't see either of them contributing to us getting beyond the 2nd round this year. Don't see how adding another guy of that caliber helps this team.

Why tank? But this team needs a major shakeup in the offseason
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

All the stuff could be true, but he other side of the issue is that you could get someone who is an upgrade over some of the guys we have on the roster.   Rozier was a what a 16?  A guy like Bey would have helped a lot this year because he was NBA game ready.  Say we were picking 14....

take a gander
Quote
2019 Romeo Langford, Indiana – Boston Celtics
2018 Michael Porter, University of Missouri – Denver Nuggets
2017 Bam Adebayo, Kentucky – Miami HEAT
2016 Denzel Valentine, Michigan State – Chicago Bulls
2015 Cameron Payne, Murray State – Oklahoma City Thunder
2014 TJ Warren, NC State – Phoenix Suns
2013 Shabazz Muhammad, UCLA – Utah Jazz
2012 John Henson, UNC – Milwaukee Bucks
2011 Marcus Morris, Kansas – Houston Rockets
2010 Patrick Patterson, Kentucky – Houston Rockets

Some duds, some NBA players and a star in Bam

Now I also realize that the pick could be a real nothing burger and I do not endorse tanking.   But as far as getting a guy who is better than some of the existing guys on the roster, I think that is possible certainly.   Maybe not probable but definitely possible.  So while I am not endorsing tanking, I do think we might be able to get some help there.

I think this is kind of a joke.  Tanking?  For what, the 14th pick instead of the 16th pick?  Does anyone really think that there is even a slightest chance that the Celtics organization is doing anything to increase the chance of losing in order to get the 14th pick?  I don't, I think it is a ludicrous suggestion.

The only move that doesn't make sense for a win now team was trading Theis.  I know they had to shuffle some salary to stay under the tax but it seems there were other ways to do that while still adding Fournier and Parker.  Trading Theis is not tanking though.

I still don't understand what the Cs' strategy is.  Was this year meant to develop the younger players, and to establish JT and JB as the leaders, or was the strategy to contend?

Based upon the Theis trade it appears that the Cs intend to turn the keys over to the younger players with upside.  If so, why is Semi playing so much?  I have lost faith in Gwill, as he is not an effective small ball center.

I called for a special advisor, like Jerry West, to be hired.  Shortly thereafter the Cs went on a winning streak, but the streak is in the rear view mirror now.

This year was about development. Brown and Tatum got better (offensively). Timelord got a lot better. Pritchard has had a nice rookie year. Langford and Nesmith are still projects unfortunately.

It's also clear that Grant Williams, Edwards and Ojeleye don't really have a future with the Celtics. That knowledge is also valuable.

The big downside of this season may not be individual development, but the lack of accountability and cohesiveness of the team. This Celtics team has no identity or culture to build upon anymore. That's also a big part of coaching and the reason why we'd probably be better of with a new coach.
